Doesn't appeal to me, but does appeal to others. Consumer driven free market as far as I can tell.

There are two camps I suppose. I know parents who openly admit their goal is for their child to play up even if it's on a lower level team bc they think playing against bigger/older kids is the best way to get better. I believe that playing against more skilled players is the best way to get better. Both sides think they are right. Ultimately parents pay the bill and hopefully kid is happy whichever path they pick. Some kids want to play up, others want a team of similarly skilled players, others with school friends even if the tam isn't that strong. One size doesn't fit all.

Some of the teams I have seen in NEP are worse than MAPLE teams especially in the Championship league and below. This makes no sense. So the teams playing in League 1 for example will stay in NEP while some very good MAPLE teams will have to play in NEC?

I would imagine that will sort itself out after the Fall season. It makes no sense for ex-MAPLE teams to be kept in NEC while handily beating other NEC teams. I have no info but I would expect that there will have to be some mechanism for teams to "play into" NEP without a strict promotion/relegation system.

NEP/NEC has posted that no more new clubs will be accepted for now. Leaves some clubs stuck in Maple for at least another season.
