Personal reasons- paid leave for putting his hands on a player is the word on the street

Will all these Boston vacancies make it harder for the schools to recruit new head coaches? Will one program lose out more to the others? In other word, which program is the weakest/least desirable from a coach's perspective?

Always something going on in soccer. Always.
The National College Athletics Association has not explicitly prohibited romantic relationships between coaches and players but considers “any sexual contact between a coach and an athlete abusive” given inherent power dynamics that render the concept of “mutual consent” problematic

Funny how the NCAA when it wants to do so can act like the big bad boss -- but when it comes to what should be a very simple, no brainer, ethical/moral standard to protect student athletes (you know, the group the NCAA makes a pretty penny on), well then they say "here's the right thing but we'll defer to our members."

The three boston schools are very different and one job likely doesn't affect another.

Possible but I don' think so. His Teams have have run hot and cold, not much in between.
I'd keep an eye on HC's at Xavier and AlbanyU's. I'd take a run at the Gtn guy too.

If the NCAA considers it “abusive”, why don’t they prohibit it? Saying it’s “abusive” and then not expressly prohibiting it is ridiculous.

Yale forbids such relationships for obvious reasons.

Yes I was surprised there is no explicit NCAA rule. Maybe because it's dominated by men and male dominated sports where relationships between coaches and athletes almost never happen. The NCAA simply encourages schools to have their own policies (which I 'm sure every school is reviewing right now). UNH said they have had a long standing policy about coach/athlete relationships but it's unclear if they had one at the time. Regardless it was never reported to UNH and there's no criminal complaint, thus nothing on a background check. It's also unclear on the timeline with his UMA wife and what their policies were at the time.

That's not why he got fired but for accusations about behavior at a prior school. Every school should have such a policy and the NCAA should have it's own rule as a double check to protect athletes. Even when 100% mutual/consensual a coach holds all the power - the athlete's playing time, scholarship and even spot on the team is vulnerable.

A lot of weak performers; it's time to clean house at some of these programs.

Question: if a coach is heavily recruiting a kid, and then the coach moves to a new school, is it common that the coach keeps recruiting the kid, but (obviously) for the new school?

I wouldn't say it's common but it's been done certainly. We'll see I guess if the new coach at BC brings a player or two from his list from a previous school, if they hire from outside the program? There may be NLI involved and other agreements to overcome.

There's nothing to stop it from happening but they'll be in a new job with a new team that has different needs. The recruit might not be as good a fit, and the program and school might not be a good fit for the recruit.
