Playing up with the new age designation

Does anyone know what the rules are for playing up under the new age designation being implemented next season? Is there a restriction on the number of players that can play up or is it unlimited?

Any imposed regulations will be dictated either by whatever league your team is in or your club. Thus far it seems you could have as many as you want, but again as it gets closer to leagues may spell out rules. However higher-level clubs will not be willing to run majority-younger player teams as it will make them less competitive.

It appears that a decision will have to be made by clubs between the following 2 choices then:
      1. Keep existing team in tact even though the younger players will face older competition OR
      2. Break up existing team to allow older players to "even the playing field"

My opinion is that option 1 is better for the older teams (U15 and up) where the size advantage is not as great versus the younger teams where 1 year apart can be a significant advantage. It would be nice if that decision were left to the clubs versus leagues imposing restrictions though.

I think it will be club dependent, not league. But as discussed some clubs will scramble up the teams to create the most competitive ones they can. Being competitive leads to wins, which leads to a constant stream of customers. Smaller clubs will have tougher choices if they don't have as many teams to move impacted players to. But that is temporary. Over time as the change filters through (and more parents see it isn't a big deal) then I think all will be calendar year

Maybe ok for a top u15 & up team to stay together but they will still suffer competitively vs older full birth year teams. Particularly out of state in Regionals.
