No coach recently has seemed to advance US men's soccer on world stage for the last 20 yrs.

Progress, if any, has been two forward and then give those steps back.

Perhaps the depth of the program is stronger but the top level does not seem to be.

Is that really any coach's fault?

Listening to a program last night, the pundit asked the question where are the good 23-28 year olds for the US right now? Those that should be in their prime or approaching it.

I asked this question before they hired him, and during his time, now I will ask it again. What made Sunil Gulati or anyone think that Klinsman was going to be a good coach for the US. There was nothing to indicate that he would be. He coached the German team for two years and had success, but he had a lot of failures also, and people were calling for him to be fired leading up to the World Cup. The team had a 3rd place finish in the Cup, was it perhaps just luck on his part. Then he moved on to Bayern Munich only lasting 10 months there as he was fired. That is the extent of his coaching experience up until the US team. So he had 2 coaching jobs before the US team, and neither of those were for very long. He wasn't at either positions long enough to show that he could put together a winning formula over an extended period of time. If you research his coaching history at either position you will see that he did the same things at those that he is doing with the US team. He would leave players off the field that were having success, and he would play people that were not performing for their club. He was always changing positions and players, and never letting them get comfortable with each other. I think it is time for the US to move on from this experiment and find someone else, but more than likely with the money that is invested and with cup qualifying coming up Sunil will keep him.

It all about money. EVERYONE has a price. Question is how much will US pay.

Screw it I want sir Alex Break the bank. He surely could make our average players better. The best athlete's do not play soccer in this country. We are like the Jamaican Bob sled team lets face it. even if we had 50 players playing in the top leagues internationally right now all we would have is Tim Howard the only stand out U.S. player anywhere.

The biggest problem with US soccer is Sunil Gulati. As long as he is in charge things aren't going to get much better.

While soccer is still in its infancy in the United States, surely we can obtain an American as head coach who was actaually born here. Hell, half of our team is not even from the United States originally. I believe one player in the World Cup couldn't even speak English, yet Donovan sat at home.

You must do some US soccer history.....

                      Did you know that ...

The NASL during the 70's and 80's had some of the world best players playing here (Cryuff, Best, Pele, etc...) many of them who actually were still good enough to be called up to play for their national teams. Heck, Franz Beckenbauer left the NY Cosmos and went back to Germany to win a Bundesliga title with Hamburg...
