The final 16 still has some imposters included. When we get down to 8 we’ll have the meat and potatoes. 10 European, 4 South American, then 2 others. The latter will be departing soon.

Soccer is doomed in this state. Even lowly CT has 300 posts on the WC.
This confirms the utter selfishness of the soccer state of mind in Mass as everything is about your kid, and your kid only. Even the posters who profess a love of game can’t engage. How are we supposed to build any type of future when there is no discussion at all?
No wonder the leagues, clubs and kids are a total mess.
Create a soccer culture-ha, what a load of bollocks.

          Miserable, selfish bastards...

Not sure the CT crowd is a good example to follow. Here is their most recent WC post:

Puzzzzzys here today..... Only on TS one or two Unbelievable nerds posting while the game plays, obviously you have no friends to discuss world cup soccer with...BTW your lame excuse of multi tasking at work is a joke on you no one buys this silly nonsense.
Now get back to what you know... oil, towel and an X rated movie "Multi Tasker"

"You spank it with oil and a towel? And an “X rated movie”...what are you like 65 years old?

No it's not a soccer state. Nowhere is. Soccer is a bit player to the big sports. Ma is filled with lifelong followers of the Sox, Pats, Bruins and Celtics. The kids play soccer but they watch those teams with friends and family. More might get behind the Revs if the team was any good and ownership did anything to build a more consistent fan base. Many would rally behind a national team every few years for the WC or Olympics, but we don't have that now. They'll rally behind the women's NT but not at the same rate because some just won't watch women play any sport. Building a soccer culture, battling the behemoth sports, will take time. If you want to really talk soccer you have to find your posse.

Brazil might have gone further if they didn't flop so much looking for ref calls and trying to dribble into traffic every time their forwards get anywhere near the 18...

France, England, Belgium and Croatia all deserve to be in the semis. Stand up soccer, unselfish team play, with moments of brilliance from each.

Kind of crazy that they all end up playing their neighbors.

Huge win for European soccer this weekend. South America did not do very well in 2018. 2 teams in the final 8 (Uruguay and Brazil) and both were easily beaten by stronger European squads.

Don’t count out England. They won the U20 championship with a lot of these players. They have a real shot if they get past Croatia and play a solid game in the finals.
