gullible parents,,,, and clubs that don't want to inform or educate parents about the process...they would rather let a 14 year old "commit" to a college , that way they can blast their webpage with all their commitments and sell the club as "we get the most girls committed in the whole southeast". When in reality getting committed doesn't mean squat, it actually hurts the girl because other scouts wont waste time on a committed kid who may actually be able to play for a better soccer program if they waited.
If a scout wants your 14 -15 year old to commit then ask for something, if they believe in her talent as a freshman and don't want her to explore other options , ask for something in writing or a financial package, if all parents did this , getting 14 year olds to "commit" would end quickly.... or the process would change
