At CU & FC P travel teams you get to travel for full fare and play for nothing it's really great. Really.
OYSA doesn't pay but OYSA parents do. All those checks for league and state cup go directly to Peregrine - and they funnel some of that money to the DA.

Isn’t Westside Timbers running thorns now? Why is Eastside in the mix? It’s confusing.

But all the high level girls coaches at FCP are men. So who did you "talk" to?

Eastside provides the coaching and the grass fields out in the Gresham 'hood. That's because Eastside has proven themselves very adept at teaching thugball bootball and that fits perfectly with the Timbers philosophy.

Now under the Portland Timbers we have a free boys academy and a heavily funded girls DA.

Whats left of US Club in Oreogn, ECNL, still sucking parents dry.

Nah, OPL - even with all its weaknesses - reduced cost in Oregon. Player cards much less than today and league fees materially lower per game than today.

. . . and it still ran at a surplus. I think the surplus was used to allow teams playing the last season to play for essentially free.

Now we get the Timber tax - god bless America and thank you to all that made it happen or try to rationalize it!

US Club just wanted a piece of the player registration $$$ pie and gave them (OPL) a discount for player cards, so they (US Club) could have cash in the bank.

Cash in Hand for US club was the motive.

                League fees move with inflation.

OPL had no infrastructure, oversight, accountability sadly no leadership. The huge profits they derived were from a horrific operational model that had little to no overhead and outside of an occasional referee and an internet schedule that's what your team fee bought. They basically overcharged. That's why the huge surplus.

In the end they (OPL) couldn't justify charging the remaining 3 clubs to play themselves over and over in a cul de sac league and made it free with the profits derived from the clubs that once played in OPL for a few years and then moved to the OYSA.

After the dust settled every club is back in the OYSA today.

Player card fees and league fees went up substantially more than the rate of inflation in returning to OYSA.

                    Ha

Ha league fee and players fees didn't go up hardly at all, but player fees did.

This is because the big eight clubs didn't reap the profits of the OPL any longer and someone has to pay for the cars the DOC's are driving.

Folks put on the Timbers patch and lose any semblance of reality/truth.

                        The Truth

This is what it is all about, what it has always been about, the money.

First we had just OYSA and they kept a large part of the total revenue. Big staff and big salaries.

Then the OPC got together. It was one big happy family of clubs. They showed OYSA the door and went US Club. Players card fees and league admin cost where cut but player fees to clubs where not lowered. The profits were rolling in, the great eight were in the money.

Then the betrayal, the chief architect, or at least the biggest drum beater brought most the clubs back to OYSA. Of course OYSA only got the player card fees back. The league and state cups go to you know who. This wasn't some civic gesture of morality they needed the cash to fund the DA so they took a page from the previous OYSA manager who used the league and state cup fee to help off set ODP cost. Brilliant !!

This is like an episode of the twilight zone, but real

US Club offered a discount on the Player Reg Card vs the USYS (OYSA) card price that was cemented.
Do you realize the US Club & USYS Player Reg card fee is an arbitrary amount?

US Club was able to pocket $200K+ for a few years with the OPL player card con, just for printing player cards they(US Club) have no overhead, staff or offices in this state so the only risk was a potential spike in their nationwide insurance program pricing.
They took the risk, avoided the spike and got paid for a few years, another great US Club Con..
It's called risk reward, sneaky soccer clowns.

Unlike the USYS which actually has offices, staff, infrastructure it has to support and pay for in Oregon, which translates into a little more expensive player pass.

US Club was playing with House Money and gave a $5 break vs USYS player card pricing.
Your talking about the price of 1 to 2 gallons of gas in your car. Silly rabbit.

But even one thin dime in the hands of Merritt Paulson is an outrage to the ECNL trolls.

Never mind that the cost/team for Timbers/Thorns League and the various Cups is right on par with any summer tournament (but far better value).

So long as the Timbers and (especially) the Thorns are running subsidized academies that uppity neighborhood clubs view as competition for their frequent-flyer leagues, their shills will be whining here about how unfair it is that any money that passes through their fingers might wind up in Peregrine's bank account.

                              What does ECNL stand for?

                                No

Forget the player card it is such a small piece of the player fee to the club. What is it now $15.00 if that, for year.

I am talking the league fees and state cup fees all going to the OPL all funneling to the OPC. Now going to the Portland Timbers. The OPL was racking in the cash, rolling in the money.

Then it all went away and now there is some sour grapes. Not pointing any fingures but X-Fire and FC PDX are grasping at US Club ECNL profits as a last ditch effort to be rich soccer barons.

Heaven forbid they try to build a better soccer mouse trap and earn the money.
