Also ALL kids at this age (before 18) must live within 100 kilometers of the club otherwise it is considered a transfer, similar to poaching from another club(s)'s area. Kids are typically picked up from their public school by a club bus, brought to club where they do their homework, relax and eat and then train from 5:30 to 7:30 after which they are driven home by club bus. Play one game on weekends during the season. They take at least 4 weeks off in the summer but the German Soccer Federation just announced that the summer break for youth sports will be extended to at least 6 weeks in order to give players longer to recover.
All in all they train about the same as top teams in the USA, maybe less. But the training is better and the standard of competition is much higher, hence the difference. And, yes, they live and breath soccer and are not watch football or basketball on the weekends.

So what is your point? The kid obviously does not feel like committing anymore. Nothing wrong with that. Again and your point is?
