It depends on how far you want to stick your neck out…There are a lot of levels of participation. This may be joining the board of your club, it may be participating at club meetings, it may be having an intolerance to the general inter-league bickering and insults.

When your DOC comes forward with a decision to play OYSA or OPL "just because" question that decision.

Most of the clubs out there are pretty small, and can be swayed by well intentioned folks, there are probably only 10 or 12 clubs that have enough institutional inertia that it becomes harder to influence.

The thing we cannot do as parents is just sit back and tolerate the split.

It's really sad but it comes down to politics among adults. If you ask DOCs about it they will agree unified is better but will cite something in the past and grudges and leverage and bargaining power. Straight forward logic doesn't come into play.

Realistically - until there is new personnel at the top of CU/THUSC/WST & EST there wont even be any good faith in negotiations.

                OYSA holds the key

It's really simple folks. OYSA has given the Timbers (Gavin) the power to maintain the split. OYSA has given the Timbers an annually renewable contract to run premier soccer that the Timbers want extended for 10 years. If the OYSA grants a 10 term the split will remain as long as there are OPL teams.

If you want the split to end you need to oragnize a petition drive and present it to the OYSA Board BEFORE they give Gavin and the Timbers a 10 ytear contract to run premier soccer for OYSA.

Really.. what split... CU and FC entered their U14 boys in the OYSA league. Exact reason why they removed WST EST and PCU.

Are they going to vote CU and FC out now? :) just saying

Simpler still organize a petition to the OPL clubs that you feel a united state is more important than these political wars, and you have the expectation that they will resolve their issues and unify soccer.

The Timbers have no interest in maintains the split. The only issue is Tom and his minions have spent so much time whining and complaining about the Timbers that now he can't get his sore head in the same room with Gavin. Really the whole split probably comes down to those two individuals.

Once upon a time OPL promised that competitive soccer would be run by the 8 biggest docs. Now they have all gone their own ways, including Tom being focused on ECNL, and in their place the league is run by people with no knowledge.

Sorry, but at least the Timbers have credibility to be running a soccer organization. The three OPL dwarves do not.

Expecting the OPL clubs to give up their US Club memebership and connection to the ECNL is an unrealistic expectation. If you think the Timbers don't have an interest in manitaining the split you have not been paying attention. They are obviously on a mission to take over competitve youth soccer in Western Oregoin and Southern Washington. Why else would they be branding clubs and refusing to share the management of the seasonal leagues. Yes the OPL has an interest in keeping control of their piece of the pie too but are willing to share unlike the Timbers.

It has been said many times the best boys comeptition is in the OYSA and the best Girl competition is in the OPL which is why you will see the better boy teams form the OPL in the OYSA league. The fact that the OYSA clubs prevent their better girl teams from playing in the OPL speaks volumes about their Timbers "professed" concern for the quality of soccer for the grils in their clubs.

Again the control of the OYSA league should not be left up to the Timbers who have an OBVIOUS conflict of interest and rightly should be in the hands of the OYSA Board who should have the maturity and wisdom to brooker the sharing of the management of the leageus. It ain't rocket science is "scheduling" and both leagues have proven they can do that!

You think this is about Tom try looking deeper this is all about Jim Brazue and the timbers! He is the one who has personal issues with the timbers! He use to work with Gavin and then was let go and now this whole thing is really about Jim and Gavin. These two men are the worst thing for Oregon soccer! Jim is a sleezy car sales man that will tell you anything you want to hear to make you happy and then do the total opposite. And Gavin could care less about anybody. At least on the boys side!! I will take Cony any day over Jim Brazue and Cony is much to brag about!

10-year contracts to do anything is bad. Just look at the Blazers/Comcast debacle. It has been horrible for many, many fans outside of viewing areas. Give 1 entity power for that long with no oversight and it will be abused.

People could stop paying until they fix it. That won't happen of course, but until parents put their money where their mouths are, both sides of this debacle will continue convincing their lemmings that it is the other sides fault.
