With its own national showcase now i’d bet ECNL R will get more interest from college coaches now than GAL gets.

This seems like a great idea regardless of the discussion of any other leagues. I can imagine that the National games get most of the attention at the Showcases - and understandably so.
I'm sure they won't get as many schools at these showcases but they'll get the schools that are open to taking the next tier players.

Call me crazy but if a player wants to travel to far flung national showcases,. They would be better off just playing in the ecnl rather then the regional league.

Exactly. It opens up the ECNL showcases, which are second to none recruiting platforms, to a whole other “tier” of players.

My daughters team played a regional team in a tournament and destroyed them. Not buying into this ECNL regional crap.

This debate on leagues is so funny. You think a College Coach cares what league a player plays in? If your child is good enough to play and wants to play in College, guess what, they will play, lol. If you are counting on a league to showcase your child's talent then maybe they are not good enough.

Seminole Soccer complex in Sanford and Reach 11 in Phoenix are large facilities.
No one is playing 20 miles away. ECNL-R players (and their parents) will see 100s of coaches in attendance watching games on same fields. 100s of coaches from various levels will attend because a) they can shop players at various tiers and b) they want to see their friends (eg former assistant at Tier 1 is now Head coach at Tier 2).
100% this is a business decision, and it’s a good one
