Same old stuff, different location. It didnt work for you before why do you think it will work now. You are using the same tactics and promising the moon just so you can collect a salary. I have seen kids hop from club to club but this is rediculous. The clubs that are already established were here before you and will be here long after you. BTW, have you ever heard of the 15 Mile rule........

Wonder if he knows? I would hate to have my child commit to that club, and then see them lose their FYSA affiliation later on because JR did not know the rules.

If they can accomplish what they are claiming to do, it's a good thing for SWFL soccer. Everyone has options and if it doesn't work for you, than I am sure you will pursue the other options. If this club can pull off a developmental academy, grow them to Super 20 and then PDL, it will be a good thing for SWFL. Maybe we will have more than a team from each club here and there that will be competitive with the east coast clubs.

There is plenty of talent to share in this area. Why not have as many great clubs as possible so instead of joining an east coast or Tampa league we can have our own league right here in the Lee and Collier County. The Knights, The Adrenaline Storm, The Fire, The Strikers, The Lightening, The Cape, Immokalee and don't forget Naples United Optimist Blue that was posted as a new club as well. That is eight teams that I can think of. Hope I did not leave anyone out but I am new to the area so no bad intentions were meant.

Rambling Thoughts below --
There are over 60 teams in the PDL league and more a few levels above that before MLS. Do you really think the coaching the Adrenaline is going to get him an MLS job in the next couple of years?
I am actually neutral on JR and have mixed opinion of his new effort.
I don't know JR's product quality but he does seem to have a vision and there seems to be a need/demand at least in the I-75 Gateway area that is unmet by the Strikers and the Scorpions. JR began to fill that unmet demand for something different by helping start the Knights.
Before JR started the Knights, why didn't another competitive club grab a partnership with the Gateway rec league which seems to have 1200 -1500 kids and probably only be second to Cape Coral in numbers of kids. Before the Knights, there was not a definitive option for kids out there that showed signs of talent or desire to get better.
Also why were parents from out of the Gateway area looking for something better and tried the Knights? Probably because driving to Naples or the Cape to find a club that is driven to try to be competitive in more than a couple age groups. (I am not saying the Cape and Fire are competitive in all age groups but my perception is they are trying harder others.)
The Gateway club president seems to have the relationship more with JR than the Knights and that may hurt the Knights in the long run unless they step up their marketing effort.
The Adrenaline youth club partnering with Gateway will likely make the Adrenaline youth club viable as long as that partnership lasts. The Adrenaline PDL team even had a practice at the Gateway field last night to create interest in the PDL team and likely to create interest in the new club. Many other minor league soccer teams partner with local youth clubs to create interest (ticket sales). So why not here and see if it improves some quality depth in the area instead of fragmenting it though 8-9 clubs.
I am not privy to why JR and the Knights split but I have been told by a loyal Knights/non JR supporter that JR was nudged out by corporate more rather than JR leaving on his own. Maybe he does jump at the next opportunity or maybe he did not have enough control of his Knights situation and the corporate folks in Massachusetts did not need him any more after tryouts last year. Probably a combination of both. Maybe corporate did not think he could be head coach of Adrenaline and the DOC of the Knights at the same time (although the seasons barely overlap).
I am not sure where my kid will play next season either. The new Adrenaline youth club is scary because its new and unknown. It will likely create some un-stability issues for the other nearby clubs as well and for the short term have a negative effect.
Hopefully the Adrenaline youth club is either is successful very quickly or dies even quicker just to bring stability in the area.

JR is not a bad coach at all, but he is only in it for his name and dollar signs. I understand people getting excited over this, but honestly the Adrenaline are a very low level PDL team as it is.
Bonita should have merged with an existing club a long time ago. Lee County and Knights need to merge. There you will have 1 club in Naples, 1 in Fort Myers, and 1 in Cape. The Immokalee and San Carlos of the world, especially Optimist, are just too small similar to Bonita.
If JR was smart, he would have made a relationship with Chicago Fire, aligned his PDL team with their club, and then built their stadium to suit the Fire when they come down, etc. A lot of costs could have been offset that way, and you have had a lot bigger following (ticket sales) with a 500 kid club then a 60 kid club in Bonita.

I'm neutral yet realistic. I don't have anything against him or Bonita. JR was not the DOC for the Knights. He was the technical director for one year. The next year he was a coach for one team. He doesn't like GPS so he left mid season this year because the club stuck together. As for Gateway, the majority of those families will never leave Gateway. They like having all their sports for their children in their neighborhood. So having to drive to Naples for a game is not what they want. Their kids play flag football and soccer at gateway and they are happy with that. Maybe a few are competitive players out of that 700 (not 1500) in that club but will end up elsewhere. And, I'm willing to bet, you are going to be paying the distinct extra to rent the gateway fields.
If you are planning to leave your club, do your research first. Make sure the issues you have within your current club/team are worth the risk to leave. Call FYSA first to confirm the locations are approved. They are breaking rules. I'd hate to see good players end up on one of those tournament only teams and stuck playing in the Collier County rec league next season because they did not look into this further.
