Disagree..there is an educational environment for everyone..for some it's local leagues, for others, it's ODP, and for other's its DA or even MLS academies.at the end of the day we are in this to build and raise the level of the sport in this country..

Sure it is. And regions cup is a big deal too. ODP is antiquated and irrelevant.

No one is saying its a "big deal" ..the word irrelevant is what I would disagree on.

Depends on how you define "irrelevant." If you are referring to the fact that it used to be the primary platform for getting discovered to play in college, then it is true that there are several other platforms for getting discovered - but that doesn't make it any less relevant. It is still a primary platform for getting discovered - just not the only one any more.

And if you look at it as another platform in conjunction with club and HS soccer, it does provide a fun and rewarding player experience. Our daughter is going into her third year of ODP and has a blast and has made many good friendships with other girls from across the State. As usual, the folks that usually believe it is "irrelevant" are often the same ones whose kid didn't make the cut.

Very relevant. Many experience playing on regional teams or national camps, teams.

The only kids doing ODP this year are recreational players.

Really, so all the best players (i.e., no recreational ones) are trying out for DAs, ENCL, etc and making the roster?

Sorry your kid didn't make it last year, but if you are correct, then bring your kid out to tryout against "recreational players" and your kid should shine like the north star and be the best player on the field.

                              Good luck with that.

Is it true that colleges have to show diversity on soccer rosters and thus actively recruit to maintain a certain number of "minority" top players?
