When a player signs an NLI for a good amount of athletic money do they have to send in a formal college application/essay to that school as well? I didn’t think they needed to “apply” as the school wants THEM but I don’t know for certain. Thanks.

If the kid signs they have effectively agreed to go to the school
One caviar and it’s clearly stated- final grades
But if everything stays on course they apply and the acceptance is Guaranteed it’s just a formality
Hope helpful

Up until this year the NLI was signed in February. While applying was mostly a formality, not everyone is always guaranteed to be admitted (more so with D3 than D1 where money is involved) Athletes would apply ED or EA so it was all done well before February. Now it' is signed in November so obviously kids know they're in but it's confirmed by admissions.
