That Fire team was developed by a parent and the Sharks as well as by MP. With better game coaching they probably would have won a title or two. The Fire now seems to care about numbers with a lot of clueless parents who think the pretty jerseys and fancy talk means something more then whay it really is. There was another great shark/fire team that was assembled mainly by RS and JM but they took their team to GPS where the commitment from a college coach did not transpire. However, with The candy brothers gone their is hope for something better.
GPS is by far the best program in SWFL but they can not complete against top Academy teams. FUSA is more recreational. However, if they make the commitment to five day a week practices and at least one game a week they have the coaches and the area does have the talent to be as good as anyone in the nation.

RS didn’t even take his kid to GPS. He stayed with Fire and eventually other kids went to Azzuri.

You seem to think you know a lot about Fire, but it sounds like you abandoned ship awhile ago and now have an outsiders perspective.

GPS has better boys teams right now, but not in every age group. That doesn’t mean it’s a better club. Girls teams are a wash as Cape seems to still dominate younger ages and older ages just depends on age groups between GPS and Fire.

Azzuri has one U13 boys team better than other SWFL competition. Seems like Stovi experiment is coming to a close after this season.

Third bracket teams at best at somewhat competitive tournaments and frequent users of trash recreational level tournaments run by clubs themselves and former Directors and Board Members. Why does the soccer in Southwest Florida suck so much when that area has produced professional baseball and football players?

It doesn’t suck. It’s a stupid thing to say anyway. Assuming you live and your child plays in SW Fla, one wonders why you would make the accusation.

Each club has its own role in SWFL:

GPS has been having most success at older aged boys and attracts players
From other clubs around U14+

Fire seems to develop players the most from 8-13, but then they usually look elsewhere.

Azzuri provides a great environment for cost effective families that want to travel but not further then SWFL.

LCS and Cape have their own niche since they are off the beaten path compared to others.
