Will the kids in this program be playing for the Hillside school in the fall, and then GPS club soccer the remainder of the year? Just wondering how the GPS U12 DAP program will fit into this, if at all. The U12 2007 group for next fall will be 5th & 6th graders (although, it sounds like this residential program only includes 6-8th grades).

It doesn't seem reasonable to require all the DAP kids to attend a 32K private school, and they won't be able to play for the school. If the DAP program is kept separate from the residential program, I would imagine the residential program would be fairly weak at this age group, with DAP taking the majority of the top players with 24-26 spots on the two roster team. The older residential age groups could be strong, as some of the former U12 DAP kids fill in the rosters, having no other real options if not moving on to Bolts/Revs/Seacoast. Looking forward to hearing more details. Anyone know what kind of reputation the Hillside School has?

So, other than yet another way to trash GPS that are always a stretch...what was the point?

Here's the Quote: Yes but they will be coached the German way by the English

Lighten up Francis ... It was merely an observation. If you classify that as trashing GPS you have pretty thin skin

Not even a part of the GPS....

But, what does their country of birth matter?

Not with GPS? Then why do you care, Mate.

            Lighten up, Francis

So basically another prep school with GPS name on it? Thanks but no thanks.

                    Smoke.

                    Mirrors.

                    Same as always.

GPS has good teams at the upper levels, but tons of inconsistent coaching at the lower levels. I think that clubs are all mostly decent for the elite players, and I don't think that GPS is bad for an elite player. From a town coach perspective, I have seen that Bolts, NEFC & Valeo kids improve more than the kids at GPS. I have seen kids switch from GPS to other clubs and grow considerably in one year. This is only anecdotal evidence, but it is what I have seen over several years and age groups. To be clear, there are low skill players at all clubs, and there are bad coaches at all clubs. Also, most small clubs have some really ugly warts, and there is often a tradeoff. In the end, it is just that I have seen more improvement in those low-to-mid tier skill level kids at other clubs. Obviously, there is a scale factor involved. The bigger an organization is, the harder it is to keep the quality and consistency up.

I have no doubt that the training will be good in this program, and the education benefit is hard to deny. If I could afford it, I would consider it.

Rumor has it that GPS is getting GDA.

Obviously GPS is the top producer of college talent in the Northeast. It's not even close. Do yourself a favor and come to GPS.
