Playing time is important to development for U15 and below so if you have so many players that players are only getting half a game then it's too many. I've seen kids sit way too long on top teams...what's the point. Even if a kid is struggling get them out there...the process should include working through slumps when your young.

Until they are of high school age and the players have distractions that have them to miss training and games, I don't believe competitive youth soccer teams should have full rosters and don't believe they should carry more than a maximum of 4 players more than are allowed to be on the pitch during a match. Too may players result in dissatisfied parents and reduce team morale.
