    ECNL girls and boys showcases

There is the ECNL girls showcase in Sanford on January 6-8. The girls ECNL Composite teams showcase is in Palm Coast December 1-3. Why not combine them as less clubs in ECNL now for ease? When are the other girls ECNL showcases? When are the boys ECNL showcases?

The clubs ECNL composite teams travel on busses to the regular season games and are hopefully included in these showcase events. They pay the same fees at their clubs and deserve the same showcase opportunities when the college coaches are budgeted to come watch.

When will the directors do what is best for the ecnl clubs and players as well as the college coaches who do too much travel for recruitment and put the u16 and u19 Composite teams at the same showcase venues?

Saw this on another thread and adapted.
Which league do you think will have stronger girls teams in 2017-18?

            Florida Girls ECNL:
            Florida Elite -new into ECNL
            Sunrise -new
            Florida KK -new
Orlando City -established teams-some moved to Pride GDA
            Tampa Bay United- established teams
            Jacksonville FC -established teams

            Florida Girls DA:
            Boca- had ecnl teams prior
            Weston- had ecnl
            WFF-had ecnl
            IMG- new
Orlando Pride- new but gaining some players from OC ECNL
Clay United Soccer Alliance- new but gained a few from JAYFC 01 &'02 teams

FYI.... Sunrise only has " provisional ECNL" for U11-U12 Girls....never heard of that term... may need to merge to get full ECNL.

This comes from someone that doesn't understand what the composite event is for. It was NEVER established as a showcase for the "U18/19 composite teams" - it was meant to be a showcase for players that need an extra opportunity to be seen. If you put it with the other showcase events you lose this opportunity.

Many of the gDA teams that had ECNL will be backfilling with npl & travel ball players. OC & JAYFC's ECNL teams will probably take a dip until they develop some of those players the brought up. FKK, Sunrise will step in nicely to ECNL, Fesa has a couple decent teams too.

The new gDA teams will essentially be those clubs previous ECNL teams with some reshuffling i.e. your point about JAYFC players going to Clay.

Then you pick one or two of the four showcase events and designate
for the composite teams to attend, one in the east and one in the west. They play other Composite teams later in the day after the ECNL matchups. College coaches are already there. With less ECNL clubs, there is field space at the showcases. Why maker it harder on the clubs who have their Composite teams travel with their ECNL teams? Why expect D2/D3 college coaches to travel to two separate events? Make the change now!

                      From 2015-2016
“The ECNL recognizes that youth soccer clubs are the drivers of player development across the United States, and one of the biggest ways to improve player development is to help develop stronger, deeper clubs,” said Christian Lavers, ECNL President. “The ECNL Composite Events will be a great tool to help member clubs provide additional competition for their elite players in quiet periods of the year, and also to deepen and strengthen the player pool from which the elite player is developed.“

ECNL Composite Events will provide each participating team three games. To encourage players to “play up” against older competition, ECNL Composite Events will only include U16 and U18 age groups, and will be expected to consist predominantly of mixed age-group teams. Befitting the name “composite,” games at each event will be scheduled to provide “like vs. like” competition based on the make-up of each participating team.

Our club has a u19/u18 combined Composite team. The 2017 year with the birthyear change must have changed the age group. Ecnl should update its site. I do not get the mission of deepening player pools for a club at the oldest age. The main mission should be college exposure and the quiet periods and separate showcases is not ideal to meet this mission. Redefine the ECNL Composite teams mission and platform.

I think the u18/u19 is mostly made up of younger players 16, 17's and some older that did not make the first team. You are looking at mostly D3 schools and coaches and maybe a a few D2 for this team at the older ages. Many of these school will not attend some of the larger events.

No. It seems your club was not forthcoming with this information. What a surprise ! Ha !
