Each school is different and has their own niche. If someone is looking at prep schools they should expect find many different priorities at different schools. Pertinent to the OP, they are looking for a prep school with emphasis on having a strong boys soccer program among other things.

Which is why the advice to look at the NEPSCAC historical information is appropriate. The ones that put a strong emphasis on boys soccer are the ones that are there year in and year out.

This is what makes the prep schools so great. They are not cookie cutter schools like most public schools. Certain preps specialize in arts, sciences, hockey, soccer, religious studies. Families looking for those specific niches can find a much better fit than they would with their local public high school.

In addition to the schools previously listed, there are a few other good teams in ISL league.

          Lawrence
          - Won the ISL and Class B championship
          -Poor academically
          -Only a day school

          Milton Academy
-Was undefeated in the ISL and went to the Semis of Class A
          -Excellent Academically
-Close to the New England Revolution academy team
          -Full Boarding school

          Nobles
-3rd in the ISL, a notch below the schools above
          -Good academically
          -5 day boarding

          Hope this helps

That's weird...this year and last year Lawrence's soccer team has sent kids to Amherst, Kenyon, and Harvard. That's a much better list from an academic perspective than Milton or Nobles have produced in the past few years.

              2 more

Worcester Academy has an excellent class A team. Nice campus in Worcester Hugh surrounding neighborhood not so great. 5 or 7 day boarding.

Tabor Academy in Marion has a gorgeous Oceanside campus with athletic facilities that are better than most small colleges. Middle of the road A team but looking to improve.

Some other gorgeous schools in CT with good to great A or B soccer programs are Westminster, Loomis-Chaffee, Pomfret. Visit any of those campuses and you won't be disappointed. Some prep schools have the classic ivy walled buildings. Others are more modern. Also remember to find out if the school is all boys or coed.

agree. also about half the kids at Lawrence are boarders. Shows how little the poster knows...

Lawrence is by far the weakest academic school in the ISL. Most of their kids couldn't get into other schools.

weakest school in ISL? So that's why they won it this year (and placed second last year)? Just a bunch of dumb jocks, one of whom is going to Harvard, another to Amherst, Colby, BC etc..

They won it two years straight. i agree it's an unfair statement to call them weakest academic school in ISL but i think its fair to say that they are not in the top third. That said there are always students who are standouts anywhere they go. The teachers at LA are among the best out there. It's what one makes of the experience. LA provides the means to explore and reach ones potential. Lawrence has graduated many notable alums from the former managing director of Goldman Sachs to famous politicians, musicians, television personalities and athletes. It's not in the top third of New England prep schools but it's certainly not in the bottom third.

That is just the soccer team. Milton from an academic standpoint is miles ahead of lawrence, but doesn't have as many d1 caliber players. Milton also has players committed to Amherst and BU by the way.

To the OP, ignore this ISL " my school is better than yours " crap. You can't really go wrong with any prep school if you find the best fit for your kid.
