How do you know he did as well as he could? You're sure he couldn't have done better?

It is a honorable thing to recruit mostly local players but today's D1 you need to look across the pond in order to keep your program up float. Yes, I agreed based on the talent pool at UMass it is the best he could done.

No problem. The situation can only get better.

The situation can get better for Bryant since the coach was a problem, but what about the 2015 recruits? If the HC and AC were both fired, who is left to handle the situation for Seniors who need to get college applications submitted? How many recruits did Bryant have in the class? What has happened at other schools? The timing just seems really bad.

The current commits work with the athletic director and staff. When a new coach is hired, he/she will have their own favorites and relationships so recruiting will depend on that. Didn't seem like the previous staff took recruiting too serious so recruiting ability will be very important for the next coach.

Young players at Bryant are actually quite good. The AD has already contacted all recruits to say they would honor their commitments as well as the scholarships of current players. The biggest issue they may have is that there will be a gap in recruiting between current staff leaving and new staff coming in. But look what FDU was able to accomplish in one year going from a perennial league bottom dweller to top of the conference. That's why I say things can only get better if Bryant hires a capable coach as they have done with their other sports since going D1.

FDU had a good returning group and a bunch of Candians. In one of the worst conferences in the country it is not tough to go from worst to first. Bryant needs to bring in a coach that can recruit Mass and Ct. If they can bring in 3 solid recruits a year they will easily win the NEC

You miss the point. From 2009 to 2012, FDU finished last in the NEC with a total record for those 4 years of 5-34-1. In 2013 they brought in a new coach and they finished #2 in the conference with a 4-1-3 record. He left and another new coach came in and they went 6-1- in the conference to finish first. Recruiting is one thing, but coaching is another as this example shows, because neither of these coaches have been able to do more than one year of recruiting, if that, and were following 4 dismal years of soccer that undoubtedly left the program's reputation in a shamble.

Look at the roster. The best players are Canadiens that were brought in 3 years ago. 2013 coach had a good group returning and did well. He left for seton hall. Present coach got fired from Iona so is he a good coach or lucky he inherited a good team?
