Guess the answer to the OP's question is you should just go to Prespective and he'll teach you everything that you need to know - from the point of view of an elitist liberal snot.

Start by telling everyone again how many years its been since you had a kid playing club soccer?
The tell everyone again how they should put their kids on the club soccer treadmill just so their kids can have the privilege of going to some NESCAC school and they can have the privilege of spending a couple of hundred thousand dollars to send them there.
After that, tell everyone yet again how necessary the ECNL is if your kid wants to actually play at that NESCAC and how competitive the soccer is.
Then tell us all one more time just how important getting an education is and how no one should even think of using club soccer to pursue a soccer scholarship because it's just a fools errand.
Most of all tell everyone why if school is so important and soccer so unimportant why you even bothered with club soccer in the first place.
We all know what you have to say will be what is truly amazing

Do most of the yahoos on this site actually have their kids playing club soccer because they legitimately think they will play D1, on the national team, or pro somewhere? If so, then you are even bigger nitwits than i thought. Few will get to play D1, and even fewer those other two. For those whose sons and daughters will, then yes by all means do your best as parents to help them achieve those goals while getting a good education. For many others, playing club soccer is a love of the game where they love to play and hope to play high school or a lower college level and continue playing as long as possible. While others will decide where there children go based upon scholarships and playing time, many including myself will steer my kids to the school that gives them the best chance of having long term success in life that likely isn't being determined by their soccer skills. Will my son grow into a top caliber player who will be considered on of the best at his age ?...Probably not, but he is pretty good and most of all just loves to play the game. When he stops enjoying it as much, he will stop playing. But in the end I will steer him to the best possible academic school, not the one where the coach tells him he will be a starter on the varsity team. If you have choices because your child is that good and you can pick from several of equal academic standing, then sure I would pick the one thats best in soccer and is best for that. And if it costs me several hundred grand to send my kid to a great academic school, of course i would do that.
