Maybe a little less screaming and shouting at the girls and little more instruction would help our team improve .
Somehow think things won't change and this will be along year .

Here's an advice for new coaches who have just started their season. We have used this method when I was playing in Texas and it works miracles.
On the first two weeks (or more), you let your kids play THE GAME OF SOCCER. With the right size of field that they'll be playin on for the season. Could be for an hour with half time and switching sides.Teaching them while being the referee of course. And in this time span, every player should have played all positions. From goalie, to defender, and in offense.
This method would easily tell the new coach a lot about his team. But the most important thing is that he/she would know the weaknesses of each player. And the drills that the coach would need to do to address such problems going forward for the season. I will bet that most coaches today start the season with drills on cones, or just dribbling in circles. Right? Then you go to the first game and it's a mess. Kids not knowing what to do and the coach having no idea who's good in particular positions. Coaches forget that we don't live in Europe, or South America. Kids don't play soccer with their friends at home. Worst, most kids haven't really watched a game of soccer on tv! The simplest and most effective way of training kids is just let them play the game and teach them in the process. You won't believe how many clubs don't let the kids play at practice and then be surprised at how bad their kids are when the season starts.

Largo has been an average Division 2 USA club. Most of the training (or the lack of it) are aimed for the teams to play at that level. I know CDL is not all that. But TBU West will have the beatdown of their lifetime when the season starts. Whatever AS is doing all these years, he better double it fast. He better make sure ALL teams are prepared that way too. It is great to have another CdL club in Pinellas, but in the end, parents and kids want to win. It's still early, but I hope ya'll got your gamefaces ready.
