Pursue it all you want, you're free to do that ,but VW has a tight leash in that stuff. Understand your frustration, but until you play really good competition, you never really know how your perceived "good" team stacks up.On Day 2 GPS steamrolled over everybody with ease and it could've much much worse. Playing against low level competition all season long in a Mass based league gives you a false sense of judgment about your team. It's just the way it is. Many parents return from out of state competition feeling just like you are today. As was mentioned in another thread, this GPS '02 boys are some of the best around and are being highly recruited.
The word in Needham was that many of those GPS 2002 boys already play in MLS academy programs. Isn't that cheating?

No 2002s play for the Revs, although their supplemental, training-only RDS program is stocked full of 2002s.

We apparently missed the memo that said we were allowed to switch roster spots in the middle of the tournament.

it does seem a little odd to have such a massive goal differential in the semifinal and final......bizarre actually. Unless the ref of each game had a roster from the first day or from the registration package, there is no way for the ref at the start of each game to know what roster the team started with. You can always photoshop stuff on a signed piece of paper.

this seems much like what happened during the Futsal Northeast Tournament where one of the Bulldog teams suddenly became a super team to make the semifinals in the U12 division.

Two GPS teams were entered. One was disqualified but played three games. The other tied this mediocre NH GPS and barely made it to semis. Today the GPS team beat the two teams each by 11 goals. Statistically not possible with the team we all saw on Saturday and Sunday.

            GPS most definitely cheated.
How do you think the New Hampshire team was found to have 2001 players? By refs cross referencing birth dates and that was it.Their standings and outcomes were meaningless. They basically played friendlies. Happens all the time. The GPS Elite MA team was legal. Now move on and good luck to your team the rest of the season.

Bull. The Sat GPS team was its usual mediocre. Just like the futsal tournament, GPS modified the roster for the playoffs. And photos are flying in emails. I think the idea is to wait for the right moment to discredit GPS ;)
NH GPS played friendlies with 2001's? Did anyone tell the 10 yr olds on the opposing teams ahead to time to avoid getting stomped in by massive players? No of course not. Why did tournament directors let them play? Slimey MPS. Why was Dreamteam given special treatment? Slime MPS. Your whole organization is slime. Enjoy Portland. Drink lots of water.

Why, are you nervous someone will finally call out GPS?

Well.....I am not saying that clubs don't cheat, but I am saying that getting caught does not have 'all the time'. If it was meant to be friendlies to help fill the bracket then why not announce it from the beginning instead of waiting until you get caught? It might have been possible that another strong 2002 team might have played if the slot were open.

Right, they never practiced together but in one day go fro mediocre to crushing teams. The most telling is that GPS is overall mediocre in NEP. There is a critical mass of GPS players and they play in tournaments all the time together. But then they say they never played together and evolved in one day to a superteam. Where is this superteam in NEP? Where are these 2002 superstars in NEP? You don't see them because they aren't GPS players and most likely 2001. How much did GPS pay to have a few superstars flown in for Monday? Does the rest of the team think this was kosher?

Let me correct you...The event knew they had 01's and told them that would not advance, but the team was asked to play to fill a spot. No one tried to hide anyone/anything...

But they were on the roster until the last day. I'm sure our coach would have like to replace some very tired and slightly injured players by the end of the tournament to bring in some fresh meat.

GPS lost last year and they would have done anything to have a place in the national tournament this year. What's really funny is that the Valeo United team was comprised of mostly 2003's and this was just a warm-up. Next year the stakes are much higher for the players and we will be ready to try again.

However, our club does not use our players as pawns to promote a slime machine. Have fun in Portland watching the three imported superstars run around your own players that have been working hard with GPS for years.
