LS beat Peabody 3-2. Late goal by Peabody to make it look better. LS controlled most of the match.

      LS 2 Frosh, 9 Sophs, 3 Jr, 5 Sr

LS to scrimmage vs Gonk tonight.

Ludlow girls are always strong. Strong town program and with a large Portugese population and a townwide cultural affinity for the game. A few years back both boys and girls programs were state champs. Unless your daughter is a top 3 player on a top 10 club don't expect her to make varsity until Junior year. They are deep every year. Even making JV is hard. HIGHLY competitive HS program. Would beat all but the best club teams virtually every year.

Are any of last years champions favorites to repeat this year? Did any of them lose significant senior talent?

2-0 AB. 1 shot on goal from NN (from 30 yards out). AB had 75% possession and many chances. NN looked less experienced at this stage of the pre-season, but has good athletes who will probably figure it out.

Really? History over the past 5 yrs proves otherwise.

2013 - Didn't even make it into the playoffs
2012 - lost in 2nd round (Beat Renaissance in first round ???)
2011 - Didn't make it into the playoffs
                2010 - lost in 1st round
2011 - best yr of the past five. Made it to the final game in the west division and lost.

I think you are thinking of the boys program. Girls never seem to do much damage

Everything the poster says is true. Ludlow may have the strongest youth program in the state. The failures of the high school team lie directly with the coach.

During the 2000s program was in Tourney deep nearly every year. Team is loaded with talent. Local club and town programs keep a strong supply coming every year.

Rose colored glasses? Facts are facts and history is history. They haven't produced anything significant in the past five years. Don't confuse club with HS. The poster was speaking of the Ludlow girls HS team and how well they have done. I just don't see it.

You are the second person I hear this from about the coach for girls program at LHS. What is the issue.

I am the third. I am also the one who posted about B-town and Granby. Ludlow coach has lots of talent to choose from, but subs randomly so the players don't get into a flow, has players play positions they aren't best suited to play, and She (or maybe it's the AD) favors upperclassmen instead of fielding the strongest team.

Given the success of the Ludlow town program, there is absolutely no reason (other than those mentioned above), that this team shouldn't make playoffs, and have a good run every year.

AD's are most of the problems at school. Some schools don't allow juniors to play JV and thus are either are put on the team over a better under classman or cut. I've seen many times an underclassman is not taken strictly because they don't want to cut the junior. PC...ugh.

Gone are the days when you take the best of the best and if you did not make the team, try harder next year.

I have no respect for a coach that would tolerate a directive from an AD to take less talented upperclassmen than take best players regardless of age.

The most competitive programs don't play it that way.
