You are correct in that they both play in the same program/league against the same teams. Within DAP, MLS academies are generally accorded somewhat elevated status. MLS academies are among the growing number of programs that do not charge players to participate. Because they are "free," MLS academies have an easier time attracting top players. Bolts were a competitive club even before DAP and have had continued success to the present day. They likely will become even more attractive as an option to players when they also become "free."

How does Seacoast DAP match up vs Revs & Bolts?

Don't exactly see the relevance of the comment but as an unbiased fan who did see them play a few times last year, I'd say they had one definite ( a midfielder who if they didn't have him they wouldn't have been nearly as good), and maybe one or two others. There was a lot of spread out talent at u13 last year.

As part of DAP, Seacoast players have access to frequent training and great competition. Seacoast has had some strong teams over the years, but has struggled a bit lately as some solid players from NH have gone to the Revs and the Bolts. Nevertheless, they attract players from the North Shore and have had more than a few former Revs on their rosters. Overall, Seacoast can be thought of as a decent "country cousin" of the Bolts and Revs.

That is one of the biggest misconceptions. Yes financial aid is "need based". It goes to the people who the school "needs" to attract. There is tremendous competition for competitive candidates to these schools, and that is how they attract the best scholar athletes, don't kid yourself.

This is the problem, no relegation. No incentive to stay competitive. If Seacoast lost their DAP slot then they would go out of business. There is too much money involved.

GPS won't be any better if they were in that geographical area. The issue is that there are just not enough quality players in the New England area that can compete at the national level. If there were enough quality players and considering the area and the number of registered youth players in MA (168K), the revs and bolts should be in the top 3 -5 in the country every season and that is far from the case.

If the DAP orgs took the best players rather than the best connected the results would be different.

Actually he did. Several other kids shouldn't be there. He complains to me all the time. Have to take his word for it because I haven't seen practice.
