    Beat North?

Wasn't North's best player serving a red card suspension for that game?

Why is that big guy? Either Sutton is pretty good and competitive with the D1 schools or they suck and D1 is big bag of horse manure with grossly oversized egos. Which is it there big guy? Because you can't have it both ways knob.

Not as far as I know. Honestly though, it wouldn't have matter much - Sutton should have won that game 3-0 given all the chances they had.

North is D1 but is not that good this year. Sutton should win. I doubt the Shrews ganme will mean much. it is Shrews 18th game. They should be all set for districts. Highly doubt they will have the "A" team play much.....ditto for Milford. The barometer will be the mid season games vs Gond and GD. Lets see how those go.
Speaking objectively about Sutton - they have talent in their starting lineup - quite a high division club players, but not the depth they've had the past three years. The past two years combined, they've lost 17 seniors. If they avoid injuries, they'll go far because they're well-coached; if not though, they'll struggle. They'll still be plenty good enough to make it to the District finals, but that's when they'll run into Bromfield.

True but the last 3 years they did not play many D1 teams so that would have been the true test especially for the 1st and 2nd State Champ Teams. Sutton would have struggled against many of the D1 and D2 top teams those champion years.

Honestly, if we're talking purely Central MA, we're talking D1: Wachusett, Gonk, North and the flavor of the month (year) school (see Westborough last year); D2: not applicable last year or going forward, but the two years before - Groton Dunstable. And we're not talking struggle as in Sutton gets smoked; we're talking competitive matches. Sutton could lose, but they'll give a good account of themselves.

I don't like using the division labels because it really isn't a reflection of quality. You can't look at school size and assume that school A is stronger than school B because it plays in a higher division. Having a larger pool of athletes is an advantage, but only one - there are others like a real local soccer culture, good coaching and a large number of experienced club players.

Looking at the non-D1 schools, Sutton, Douglas and Bromfield should all be strong. Sutton's lost depth but have a strong core; Douglas didn't really lose much from a District finalist team and their junior class is both large and talented; Bromfield are similar to Sutton - they don't field a team, they run a program. Uncertain of how Nipmuc will be this year. Any sense of other good D3 and 4 teams in Central MA? Are there any halfway decent sides in the SWCL?

Douglas, Didn't lose much?? they have only 4 returning players from last years squad that made districts. They graduated everyone else.

Current junior class is a stronger class than what they graduated.

Think so? I think the group they graduated was pretty good. Lost in the district Finals 1-0 on a corner kick. Do you really think these boys will match or beat that this year?

I don't think they will. but we will see....

Let's be real. Last yr. Seniors were much better than rising Juniors.

Not close. More club talent in the incoming junior class. Whether they have enough to be successful remains to be seen. They lost a pretty good senior to prep I believe and won't have last year's senior class. Also not sure what's coming behind them.

                      Won't matter though - Nipmuc's better in D3.

So - scrimmages in D3 and D4. Results?

Sutton over Shepherd Hill, 5-1 and Sutton over Cohassett, 3-1. Wachusett on Saturday. That'll be a tough one.
