Should a coach be called up and coming with a 3-12-2 record, 295 RPI and 9th out of 10 in the Patriot division?

A coach can be called up and coming due to age, background, connections, career trajectory. But the program in question is anything but "up and coming." It looks a lot more like spiraling downwards.

None of the players on this year's team were recruited by CB; they were from the old coach and the team had flat-lined under him. Looking through their PL results, they had a nice win vs Colgate and three 1-0 losses. That's not a downward spiral if you compare that to where they've been the last 10 years. It sounds like the OP's daughter didn't mesh with the new coach and either was cut or rarely played...welcome to D1 soccer. If she wasn't good to enough to earn playing time at a lower level D1 like HC and playing is more important than a good education, there are a lot of D3 schools in the are where she might be able to see the field.

For NE programs, Bucknell, Brown and Lehigh are the better run programs. Kelly Cook at Bucknell is a young and talented coach while Coach Eric Lambinus at Lehigh is one of the more senior and well rounded coaches in the league.

On the opposite end is Holy Cross who just hired a 27 year old rookie coach, Casey Brown, who has taken an up and coming program and totally destroyed it with her controlling, dictatorial, and bullying style. Yelling, intimidating players, swearing, throwing stuff and dividing the team against itself is the result after only 1 season.

Other programs have had similar issues but were quick to fire and replace with a competent coach but that's not the expectation at HoCro.

If you're considering playing for a woman's soccer program in the NE, research the coach and style first and foremost.
            Up and coming program??????????

Are we still talking about Holy Cross?

Going all the way back to 2004, they have never had more than 2 wins in conference. Never!

True enough. And under this first year coach, they finished 8th in the PL and would have finished 6th and made the PL playoffs for the first time in forever if they had managed to win their last game (1-0 loss to Loyola). Likely been years since they had a chance to make the playoffs going into their last game.

it's all good. She has some strong players from Central Catholic coming this Fall. Very strong recruiting class for 2017.

Easy game plan to beat HC! Exploit the weak outside backs.

Just watched Rangers v Celtic match. Neither Protestants nor Catholics can play soccer...maybe less CC reliance :):)?

Now I am hearing she cut players from PDA, her recruiting class for 2017 is garbage. Shame, they are building a great indoor facility and things were really looking up for holy cross. Good thing they fired their last coach and brought her in.

                        Beware of that program
After the 1st season with Casey Brown it's clear that the HCWS team is doomed. She's not only a bully who intimidates and divides the girls between those she likes and doesn't like regardless of ability, but the team has plummeted into the bottom of the Patriot league.

As a parent of a returning player, I can attest to the fact that Brown is a tyrannical bully she doesn't know how to coach. She stays with her "go to" players regardless of results, randomly moves players into any position and sticks to a 4:3:4 formation regardless of who's on the field or what the other team is doing to dominate the game.

If you are considering Holy Cross for your daughter, go anywhere else. We're actively looking even at D2 and D3 programs rather than stay with this immature, angry and disrespectful person who doesn't even deserve to be called a coach.

OK. Personal friends and ex team mates of Brown should not be commenting.

4:3:4 ? If this parents player has much trouble counting as the parent it's no wonder the kid is riding the pine.
