Doesn't the DA essentially solve the birth year issue? If a kid isn't at that level of quality why is there all the wailing and nashing of the teeth, missing a few games in the fall isn't the life altering issue as it is being made out to be. The reality is missing a few games is not likely to change the trajectory of their soccer career. The clubs will figure out a way to keep these kids training and playing and if your particular club doesn't perhaps that means you should look for one that will.

It would be great if there was a place for those that did not make Academy (or did not want to join a P2P academy) to train and play during the Fall season, especially if the HS program was not useful to development.

And actually another season on the back end of their high school years as well. Top player will figure it out. Just a mess that shouldn't have to be figured out.

Ten years from now the DA will still be in existence unless the USSF changes its mind about who should hold the top spot on that pyramid for some reason. Then people need to calculate what is more likely to happen, USSF changing its mind or the ECNL faltering and having to recast itself.
