They can charge a lower fee, not free (plus scholarships), and still do just fine, or do things like not cover travel but help arrange group travel to keep parent costs low. If the above scenario panned out, you don't think families would pony up say $2,000 per year vs $3,500+ for BS in a BDA league that has no pro clubs?

USL teams are forming their own development league - this has nothing to do with USSF DA.

MLS teams have recently stated that they will participate in giving/receiving training compensation and solidarity payments. One could assume that USL pro teams will follow the same model.....

That doesn't mean they might not join forces in the future. Makes total sense and they could even do a A/B team structure if the two leagues combined have 100 or so clubs.

Sure, you can speculate. But USSF DA really is not needed anymore. The pro clubs in the USA (and there are plenty of them) can form their own league and develop players as they wish.

Pleeeeeeeeease. Adding a star to the jersey would be amazing. Great they travelled out to Colorado but don’t call it a NATIONAL Championship.

I can't wait for OW or FSA or BS to win a national championship in the "lower division"

they will just stop fielding teams because they can only field the best teams. so if they can't be in the best bracket, they will just shut it down. cause nothing else is worth playing for or talking about.

Unlikely. They either stay or move down to ECNL (if they can get in) or NPL EDP or other alphabet soup league.

Pro clubs can do whatever they choose but most are not profitable and cannot bear the financial burden of offering anything free or discounted. ISL leagues will be entirely pay to play and travel costs will be substantial. Not sure it will make financial or soccer sense for mAny to pay so much to be in a definite B or even C League.

MLS teams (soon 30 of them) are investing big dollars in their youth academies - all are free to play. They have plenty of dollars to burn. And now with solidarity and training comp they can get a real dollar return for their efforts.

Slight correction. Not all MLS academies are free

True but pay to play MLS is only a few clubs. The vast majority are free. Clubs run camps, RDS, outside coaching etc to help cover DA costs. If they decide to go it alone without USSF they might cut the number of teams they train to help with costs, or they could institute fees but make it reasonable and have need based scholarships.. They also would have more control over schedules to possibly help with travel costs.

On the flip side more are adding residency programs - investing more than ever before. They can then recruit from anywhere in the country if they want
