Lawsuit Filed Against Weston FC Soccer Club Alleges Young Man Was Hazed, Sodomized By

WESTON (CBSMiami) – The soccer fields of Weston should be a place where dreams are born.

For one young man who was a member of the Weston FC Soccer Club, a team trip to Columbia became an absolute nightmare.

That’s because of what allegedly happened to him at the team’s hotel.

“Some of the older kids from his club decided to attack he and his roommates,” said family attorney Andy Yaffa. “His roommates were forced into the room, held down and told to watch while the older kids unfortunately sodomized this young man.”

The attack is detailed in a newly filed lawsuit that read, in part:

“The Perpetrator Defendants carried [the victim] into the hotel room and threw him face down on the bed. Several of the Perpetrator Defendants stood guard while others restrained [the victim] and assaulted and sodomized him.”

“We have heard several stories,” said Yaffa. “This is not new to the club.”

The lawsuit lays blame on the soccer club that organized the trip:

“At all times material hereto, defendant Weston FC was aware or should have been aware of the risk of hazing, especially of young participants who were vulnerable to assault by the older participants.”

“It is disgusting, it is horrific and it’s an attack that no child and no body should endure,” said Yaffa.

The lawsuit lists the impact on the young soccer player:

“Past and future mental distress, which has manifested itself in physical injuries, including. Headaches, nausea, sleeplessness, debilitating phobias, and ongoing nightmares.”

“We have sued the Weston Football Club in addition to those directly responsible for the attack,” said Yaffa.

Late Monday, Weston FC released a statement that reads:

“Weston FC has a zero tolerance policy for un-sportsman like behavior, harassment, bullying, intimidation, or violence of any kind; therefore, when we received a report of an incident on a recent international trip, Weston FC immediately suspended all players alleged to have been involved and promptly made a report to the US Center for SafeSport as required by federal law and our National Governing Body. Weston FC has absolutely no knowledge of any past hazing or sexual misconduct, will continue to support and sympathize with the alleged victim and his family, but will vigorously defend this unwarranted action against the Club

Such a terrifying story. My heart goes out to this young man, his roomates that were forced to watch, and the other boys that reportedly went through this in previous years.

I cannot and will not reveal my identity all I can tell you is that I am very close to someone who was there. This story has been running through the club like cancer a week after both teams returned.

Marcelo is the fall guy and he was stupid that it came to this but he is not the one who should take the blame.

Marcelo wanted to alert the police in Colombia the next day at the game. Marcelo was warming up his team when he noticed something strange about the kids. After being with them for an entire season Marcelo knew the kids and sensed something was wrong. He then started asking questions it was at that moment that the victim started crying and the kids told Marcelo of the incident.

Marcelo contacted Victor Pastora the club director and coach of the u19 team. Upon informing Pastora of the situation Pastora alerted Daniel Serravite the clubs Sports Science Director (Daniel.Serravite@westonfc.org). Both Pastora and Serravite pulled Marcelo aside and threatened his position in the club and reminded him of his teaching position and that It would be in jeopardy. At this point Marcelo should have been smarter and did what he was hired to do protect the lives of the young children he was with.

Marcelo did not have the authority to send the u19 kids that committed the crime home. He could not and would not override the authority of Pictor Pastora the club Director at the time and the u19 team coach. Those who know Victor know that Marcelo has no power over him. It was Pastora and Serravite's decision to cover this up. At the time Victor Pastora had accepted a position at the Miami Inter-Miami MLS youth academy. His position here would be void if this information was to be revealed. Serravite a very close friend of Pastora and the person who got him the job as club Director has interested in Inter-Miami as well so it was in his best interest to keep this quiet as well.

I have no information on the whereabouts of the Brandon Collins the 4th member of the coaching staff that was with them. Brandon was nowhere to be found while all this was going down. Collins would have nothing to say as he is also under the wrath of Pastora and Serravite.

Marcelo is an idiot for not doing the right thing and he should be fired from the club and face whatever charges come his way but it us unfair that his name is the only one being used in this story. Victor Pastora and Daniel Serravite were his superiors and are getting away with it. They are very evil people and more than likely have been behind all the threats to people in the club to keep this hush hush.

Another person to look at is Juan Carlos Mechia, Mechia was the DA DOC at the time and was informed of the situation by Pastora upon returning from the trip. It was Mechia's duty to report this incident right away but he decided to cover it up and well because he to was leaving for a position with the Inter-Miami MLS soccer club.

These men (if that's what you want to call them) protected themselves before the children they were there to protect. All of them need to be brought to the public eye not just Marcelo.

You know, Weston immediately suspended the kids, they finally reported it to SafeSport, and they issued a statement acknowledging the incident. It obviously happened, so I guess they are part of the conspiracy to spread the "lies?"

You really think a 14 year old boy is going to make up a story about being raped, get his friends to lie that they were forced to watch it, then have the entire team act unusually during warm ups just so he could break down in tears when the coach asked about it? Then he came home and filed a report and subjected himself to physical exams, just to keep the lie going? Quite a conspiracy case you're building there.

              Idiots.

Exactly. How can anyone defend this? Just Imagine your child put in this position. Would you still defend the almighty Weston FC then? c' mon

Pastora managed to harass everyone to walk away quietly. He destroyed a great club and he is doing the same with Inter.

Reports of abuse must be reported to local authorities. The US Center for Safe Sport offers help in case sexual abuse is reported. They have no authority to take any action against perpetrators of abuse. This is a quote from the front page of the web site of US Center for Safe Sport: "Contact your local authorities if you have a reasonable suspicion that child sexual abuse or neglect has occurred. All reports of child abuse or sexual assault of a minor must also be reported to local authorities." There is a link to another page that explains how to report abuse to local authorities.

The following is also posted on the same page: "Contact the National Governing Body for your sport to report other forms of misconduct such as emotional or physical misconduct, bullying, hazing, or harassment."
This link leads to a page where links to each national governing body are posted. By clicking on the link of any sport governing body one can report abuse and, I assume, expect action. The link to US Soccer is the only non-functional one.

Pastora knows rules very well since hazing under his watch goes 15 yrs back, ask players, he even hide it from hotel security in Medellin, that is why he fly players that did rape on 2/2/19 instead of 2/3/19. He was afraid of police taking them.
Inter needs a large insurance under him and parents are taking a huge risk.

                          WFC keeps ignoring the facts

Brandon Collins also knew exactly what was going on and did not raise it up to the local authorities, parents and WFC Board of Directors in an effort to save his position. He is a puppet of the president and didn't have any job options as opposed to Pastora. He is still at the club as a director and covering up everything that happened in Colombia.

All these guys haven't been fired because if they are fired then Weston FC will be admitting wrongdoing right away and would lose all the lawsuits that represent millions and millions of dollars to the victims. This would bring the club to bankruptcy since the "Insurance coverage won't be able to pay it all". The city of Weston is also about to shut down the club once for all but hasn't done it is since they have a multiyear contract that brings thousands of dollars to the city. The Mayor and the commissioners are sick of WFC destroying the town reputation which has made many times the top 100 lists of cities to live in the USA.

The days of Brandon Collins, Daniel Seravitte, Marcelo and Steve Ziegler are counted. Pastora was lucky enough to escape to Inter but his reputation is ruined forever. He won't last much at Inter either. Beckham is already aware of this but he can't fire him now because he has a 2-year contract. Inter Miami still doesn't have a place where to play so they have to continue with the youth program in order to keep the MLS franchise before they lose it after many years of failed attempts.
