    New League: ENPL / WOW

    ECNL, US Club Soccer announce
new national competition platform for boys
Elite National Premier League to kick off in August 2017

CHARLESTON, S.C. (May 26, 2016) - US Club Soccer and the Elite Clubs National League are collaborating to create a new national competition and development platform for U-14 through U-18/19 boys beginning in August 2017. The Elite National Premier League (ENPL) will provide local and national regular-season competition, national showcase events, and postseason playoff competition for top boys teams across the country.

The ENPL will include both member clubs and member leagues (NPLs), providing club- and team-based entry into the competition. Member clubs will qualify teams into the ENPL in all five age groups each year, while member NPLs will qualify individual teams in all age groups based on performance in their respective NPLs the prior season.

The ENPL will be an independent non-profit organization with a membership-based leadership and governance structure.

"By working together, US Club Soccer and the ECNL showed that the first priority of both organizations is to build better programs for players, leagues and clubs to improve the daily environment for everyone," said US Club Soccer Board of Directors Chairman Phil Wright. "The ENPL will provide a great pathway for players and teams across the country and is another example of our commitment to support U.S. Soccer and its programs."

"The creation of the ENPL is a ground-breaking moment for soccer in this country," said ECNL President Christian Lavers. "The collaboration between US Club Soccer and the ECNL to create this platform will ensure an absolute top-class competition and atmosphere, and will leverage the expertise, leadership and resources not only of these national organizations but of every member of the platform. With the ECNL for girls and now the ENPL for boys, we will have a fantastic development and competition platform for top players across the country in both genders that is collaboratively led, managed and supported by DOCs, coaches and leaders with expertise in grassroots soccer."

"We are incredibly excited to announce this collaborative new platform," said US Club Soccer CEO Kevin Payne. "The core of US Club Soccer's mission is to foster the growth and development of clubs to create the best possible development environment for players, and we are confident the ENPL will offer a tremendous new opportunity for boys players, teams, leagues and clubs. This is a significant step in continuing to raise standards and quality across the country."

Beyond the competition platform, the ENPL will ultimately include a coaching development platform, a player identification and development platform, and a club development platform.

Further details, including the first member leagues, will be announced shortly, and applications for interested clubs will open in the coming weeks.

This pathetic attempt will be a distant 2nd or 3rd to the DA and probably the current RPL set up. The ENPL? It's only 'elite' and 'premier'? Why not call it the SENPL, so you can add 'stupendous' as well? How about the ASENPLFIPWDMDA, or the "Amazingly Stupendous Elite National Premier League For Incredible Players Who Didn't Make DA"?

yes and the 8-year-old DA has proven it is the be all end all. Once you realise DA is a closed system and because of that, it will never reach the highest level. The closed system does not breed creativity and free thought and express. DA has brought communism to Soccer.

But, it is the best marketing system for a player that wants to play in college. Too bad having players play in college is not a goal of DA program. It is just a side effect.

...and your hatred of the system shows right through your post! DA is THE best place to play the BEST competition. Period. US Club/ECNL can shine this turd to a high sheen, but that won't mean squat cuz the majority of the scouts will still be at the DA games. The new ASENPLFIPWDMDA will be the national equivalent of the US Club Florida Cup, where you have mostly Florida Region Cup level teams.

Oh, and getting to play in college is a darn good side effect! Hope you enjoy your end of the year recreational soccer party. Don't forget the orange slices and juice boxes!

Been involved with DA for 4 years I just do not drink the Koolaid. My son is going to GT in fall sorry no D1 soccer there. Guess he wasted a roster spot for another play to get looks from a 3rd tier educational institution.

Do not forget the average men's soccer scholarship is $3500.00. The rest if any comes from merit scholarships that you can get without playing sports.

Drink the Koolaid and enjoy the ride. All you did was prove my point DA is the best soccer marketing system in the country. The scouts come because they are inherently lazy and why not see 10 quality teams at a time vs the 1 or two you may see at a no DA tournament.

It is all about the marketing. Sorry if the facts hurt but they are the facts.

Scouts from TOP programs will stay at DA. But there are thousands college roster spots out there and even today DA can't fill them all or even come close. This will take a dent out of non MLS DA teams for sure because now players have an option (the rest will come from top NPL programs). As the other poster said plenty won't even play in college, or can get into similar colleges with or without DA. Now they can play HS soccer, earn all state accolades, be captains, have fun with their classmates. Options are good, especially when DA really only serves a small number of players as it was intended.

Okay, fact man you show one place where DA states that its goal is to get players to play in college. You can not. I never said it was a bad program. I guess when the truth hits your buyer's remorse kicks in sorry.

The goal of DA is to create National Team players. So when reality kicks in you will realize if your player is not in the national team player pool by u15 they are not going to make it with or without DA.

But, they can get a 30k a year part time job after college coaching youth soccer. Nice supplemental income.

Oh, you are 'special'! Your logic is b.s.! 99% of the kids in the DA know that college is the main goal, since they know that the national teams spots are few, so why not place yourself in the best program available?

You criticize the posters logic but completely disregard their actual point.

99% of the kids know that college is the main goal.........this is completely separate from the fact that the poster stated that the main goal of DA is national team.

Its irrelevant what the kids (really the parents) want from DA.

Our best youth players play in Europe and not DA or this new league. DA and this new league is just another reason for dumb rich white people to live vicariously through the children.

I can not play in Europe unless I am part of the US national team and play in 75% of the caps. No way to get an EU passport. Sorry, I am stuck with the MLS and the DA program
