The USSF doesnt care about win/loss records of DA teams they are only concerned about player development and how many players a program places into the national team pool of players, so why should win/loss matter to you?
Clearly you kid was cut from the DA and you hold a grudge. Obviously your kid isnt as good as you think he is.
For DA a specific I support the DA program. The one negative I see is that clubs are limited in the size of their player pools . I feel a better solution should be a 50 to 60 players in the pool at the 15-18 level and 70-90 for ages 12-14. In doing that the players can get a consistent training curriculum and the coaches will have the ability to move players up and down from the first team as they develop. That would require creating 1st and 2nd teams. The only problem that creates is with the parents. Parents have big issues with their player moving down. You never hear a parent complain if they move up but if they are moved down you are in for a show.
This way a coach can really get a chance to evaluate talent and work ethic of each player. Also, the player will know that every spot on the team is competitive and you must give your best effort or you are at risk of losing your spot.
To have truly competitive environment a player needs the fear that someone is going to take their spot. Without that pressure talent becomes lazy. The idea is you always need to bring your A game. If you do not have your A game next player up.
It is a tough lesson to learn at 14-17 but it is a lesson that the player will benefit from for years to come.
Regardless of the profession if you are not pushed productivity suffers. Any team that is attempting to provide the best developmental environment that is not constantly looking to bring in new players is destined to be mediocre at best. The coaching staff needs to be able to identify what is the highest level they want their team to achieve. If a player cannot develop to play at that level in a reasonable amount of time. The coach should make the tough choice and cut a player.

Development Academy?
How many are getting call ups?
How often were they asked down to IMG to offer up some competition for the residential program?
No playoff's = no exposure

I dont know about you guys but from what I hear the Clearwater Chargers U12 boys are pretty good. They won presidents cup which is pretty much state cup for the younger ages, with a convincing 1-0 win against kendall in the finals. They are also number 2 in the state and 50 or something in the nation if that gives any consolation to the Chargers.

Props to them for having a good young team in the club, one that will most likely fill many DA spots in the near future. The STARS of tomorrow! You trolls can't handle it!
