Team Boca as strong as ever

Team Boca is as strong as it has ever been. There were large numbers at tryouts and it looks to be as solid as any club in Palm Beach County. Below is a breakdown of teams for this coming year. The boy's U-13 team went to final 16 in state cup, U-16 final 8, U-17 final 8 and attending Southern Regionals, U-19 State Cup finalist. For girls, U-15 went to final 16, U-17 went to final 16 and U-19 went to final four. Team Boca's strong development can be seen in their older teams success. Almost of these players were at Team Boca for years and developed by the club. Both U-19 teams (boys finalist and girls final four) had many players committed to different colleges.

This only demonstrates what people have been saying on this website over and over - numbers and DA designations don't make a "great" club or team. This is simply a function of being the only club in southern Palm Beach County. Wellington is the only club out west and gets similar numbers - by default. Also, are you including the Boynton Beach girls who recently came over in these numbers? Because once again that is simply a function of Boca's location, not the quality of its soccer.

This is Team Boca not Boca United. Team Boca numbers are much larger than Boca United. Boynton players combined with Boca United not Team Boca.

Why would you post about something you are clearly ignorant about?
              Just clueless.

This is such a cute post. If the year was 1998, this would be a tremendous accomplishment. Congrats to having a program 2 decades behind everyone else.

I really like what one person posted, "numbers don't lie." You are absolutely right. Let's look at those numbers and your egregious use of adjectives. We're going to concentrate on the girls side, because that is supposedly the better of the 2 programs.

Large numbers at tryouts: interesting. If there was such a large number at tryouts, as you claim, where are your Navy teams for U13G, U14G, and U18G. And, oh wait a sec, where is your U17G team? No white or navy? Whoa. Turnout was so large, they couldn't decide on anyone for that age group?

For State Cup, please remember that you are on Talking Soccer. While the majority of people on here are retarded misfits, myself included, we do have a collective knowledge of soccer that is above the basic level. This propoganda speech may work for families moving from rec level SABR to travel, but readers on here clearly know where State Cup falls in the level of play. This tournament has not been relevant in years. It certainly is not indicative of the skill levels in Florida. Where are the ECNL or S3PL teams? College coaches? Of those teams that make the final 16, maybe 5 of them are actually ranked at that level. And by ranked, I mean the horribly skewed GotSoccer.

U-15 had a bye into the 2nd round. Played 3 low level teams and then finally faced a decent team of FKK. Progress? They got no farther than they did the year before.

U-16 record cannot be found. Why is that? You didn't enter them in State Cup. How is that possible? This is your elite white team. Were they at another high level tournament? Oh yeah, President's Cup. 3 losses. Yeah, great success there. No wonder all of those players came back. Not.

U-17 squeaked by the 2nd round. Thankfully 2 of the 3 teams were low level. But to lose to a team ranked in the upper 20s at the final 16. That must be painful. Progress? Same as last year.

U-18. Crash and burn in the 2nd round.

U-19. Here is the prize team. Final 4. College commits. Thank goodness there are only 12 teams at this age group. That meant everyone was automatically in final 16. Just needed to win a game to make the final 8 and then 1 more for the final 4. How did that go? Ouch. Spanked 6-0 by Tampa Bay. LMAO.

And lastly, your claim to college commits. Roster of 20. 14 commits. 3 to D1 schools; none in the top 100. Thank goodness they got admitted to those colleges academically and can maybe walk on for tryouts. One would think that with the number of college coaches you have on staff, that more players would be recruited to real soccer schools. When was the last time a player was actually recruited to play at FAU, Nova, or Lynn? A lot of other local clubs on their rosters.

Yep, sweet, sweet smell of bullsh!t. Team Boca is definitely the king.

Wow! Great post. Maybe a little too much time on your hands, but excellent research nonetheless. You definitely used the numbers. Several good points were made that I would love to see more comments about:

                    1. If there was such a large number of players at tryouts, why are there so few teams? And as mentioned in another post, the U19 Navy is actually a combined age group of 1999, 2000, and 2001. What happened there?

                    2. State Cup is simply a large tournament that is drawn out over time. It is no different than playing at CASL or Jeff Cup, but over several weeks, not days. And winning at State Cup definitely does not mean any team is a "State Champion." There are multiple clubs that no longer participate. Claiming success at SC is a joke. No better than saying you have a lot of Got Soccer points.

                    3. Great observation about the coaches. Team Boca has 3-4 active college coaches. No other club can promote that. But when you look at the rosters for those schools, namely FAU, Nova, and Lynn, you do not see any players from Team Boca. I see Sunrise, Boynton, even Boca United. If the club has these coaches on staff, why are they not grooming players to be recruited on their school teams? I would expect to see 3-4 across the Freshman to Senior ages.

I'm with the above author. I sense of a whiff of BS here too. Not that Team Boca is the only team guilty of doing that, but they put up the post.
