You have to do a lot of asking around. Normally part of the recruiting process involves an on campus stay and meeting current players. Ask lots and lots of questions then. Also try and compare year-to-year turnover on the rosters - it's a warning sign.
    Love this one. And to think, you are paying for the privilege of being lied to and having your kid treated like a pawn in someone else's chess game.

            Not the OP but yes the games stats are respectable. But blanket statements about "loyalty" and "devotion" are suspect. And players tend to be more loyal if they are part of a winning program, and often they are loyal to their team mates more so than the coach

              Happens at all levels, not just D3. Some coaches are scum. It's that simple. Others are just slightly scummy. Pick the level you're comfortable with and can wash off every night after practice
