Good for those kids, and I'm sure many are happy where they are (maybe even far happier than the ECNL kids sitting on ACC or Big10 benches). But they're not going to schools with the same level of soccer.

She doesn't have the ability (size/speed) to play D1 and we knew that pretty early on. She will end up playing either low D2 or D3, exactly where were knew she would end up. Playing in NPL wouldn't have made her a D1 player and we would have spent a lot of time/money and still ended up in the same place we are today.

These are typically the one that become the vocal "D3 is just as good as bottom tier D1" nuts and start talking about how everything they did was always all about getting the best education.

not everyone that says they target d3 for their kids only choose it because d1 is not an option. some of us appreciate the small class sizes and personal attention, and know it would be a good fit for our child.

Sure, if the athletic scholarship is your best/only ticket to college.
But to pimp my kid out to play at a third tier school like FDU just for the scholarship, No Way.
But that is the way my family looks at things. Others can and do reach different conclusions. And that is fine. I just do not understand why Meathead does not get that there are others who validly look at things differently than he does.
Perhaps Meathead has deep seated feelings of inadequacy and this is the way he gets back at the other ISL and club parents. He has achieved so much less than most of them he might just be jealous. Living in his mortgaged little house in Norfolk, worried about how to put his kids through college, Meathead has to find ways to make others smaller and to detract from their successes.
Meathead is laughing to himself at the people around him, thinking "ha you are paying through the nose for what i get for free".
Boy, it sux to be Meathead.

and that is what stars promote!!! Bravo, we send all these kids to school and maybe we send your kid to an ID camp or two, simply to keep the insane parents happy. Brilliant marketing tool and I tip my hat to Stars nation. NEFC is a distant second!!

Two years ago my older DD was offered two D1 scholarships - one was a full ride, the other one was nearly full. Both schools were not her first choice but in her top 5. Instead, she picked a D3 school she loved. We were not disappointed with her decision because we did not want her to feel pressured by us. She chose her school because of academics and student life culture and it is a great fit for her.
I don't know why it is so hard to believe for some people on this forum that D1 isn't the holy grail for players wanting to play soccer in college. Ultimately players and their families need to make the best decision for their situation. And parents need to stop seeking validation for themselves through their kids and their accomplishments. Support your kids and enjoy the ride regardless of where they go to school and whether they play soccer in college.
