That is one solution. In my case, the school was on a hill. Three levels my home was on the middle level. My first class was in the building at the top of the hill. The athletic fields were at the bottom of the. So I walked up hill both ways.

A residential soccer academy! My Grandmum taught in a one room school house and had to light the fire! How is that possible?

In a previous life the Gladiators against the Tigers were the warped thrill.

                    Great Original post.

My experience exactly.. I am a 'Gramps' and still whip up on the young-uns.
I wore short shorts, no shin guards, socks down, and played on crap fields.
I loved to crunch players and always won the ball. Nowadays any contact solicits crying.
The German and Dutch teams (among others) of the 70's and 80's would hold their own against anyone today. If you didn't live in and enjoy that era, how can you comment...?

The only reason CR7 looks better is that the fields are impeccable. He would have a fit if he had to play on the pastures we had to pay on.

Regarding kickball comment from the know it all. You know not of what you speak. There is more direct long ball soccer being played in the top leagues today than I've seen in a while.

Getting it up the field in front of the goal is half the battle.
