New to central Florida and brought our son to ID tryouts for OC DA, he plays goalie, they do not offer position or spot and we were told they had those spots filled already. But other parents there told us that the season was still going and they do not have a goalie or spots filled. Not sure since new and we were unable to get any more information from coaches. If they have no goalies why not offer spot? Is there other DA options for us in the area? Any help much liked.

I think the closest DA for 05s might be Rush. Not sure.

We played them several times this year and they have two goalies, not sure if you knew that or the parents you talked to knew that but that might be why. Rush is also up there in the Orlando area, might try there. I don't know any other DA type programs in that area.

At that age group i would look at Orlando City DA first then Rush. I believe with Rush DA stops there and you would go back to regular travel. If DA does not pan out look at the ECNL program at FKK and OC. All three are in Orlando.

I agree with the one response if you went to tryouts and you did not get an invite or confirmation of selection then they have no interest. Our son plays goalie as well but for the 04 age group but we are familiar with both the goalies in that 2005 DA group and they more than likely have those spots filled your son tried out for. Of course, I don't know your son's talent level but we do know the 05 boys and we know both of them are good goalies. I am sorry but you might want to explore ECNL option at the other clubs mentioned if you are in the Orlando area. They all have their pros and cons but good clubs.

Or join a high quality team that has at least some decent GK training and supplement with private training. Very few clubs have true quality GK training. Many will lump all of them together (not appropriate based on age or ability) or only do it once/week (insufficient). If the kid is good and the club wants him ask for a steep discount to help pay for privates. A desperate club will comp you completely.

It has to be politics or money exchanging hands for those two keepers to be their first choice my friend. We brought our son out too for the tryouts and they only put him in the scrimmage games with the other kids that were not selected as well from what we seen. They did not see him play with the starters like the other two did. We also looked up the stats on these two keepers from this past season and both of them allowed goals in most games while our son who in his first season as keeper in 8 games only allowed two ALL season. Explain that to me!!

What team did your son play for? The 05 team last year was bad from coaching down to most players. Not fair to only go by those stats. Only 1 keeper from last year's team made the new squad.

That proves my point even more if they all were bad. My son played at Seminole Youth and played in the U14, up a year.
