It has been mentioned in another thread but I believe it should get its own. Is this a blow to CFC nation? Or did CFC Nation unload an underperforming money pit? What do you say? More importantly what does this mean for NE Gunners?

Good move for AC. CFC loses a good branch and now has nothing in that part of the state. Will add pressure to other branches to fill up the United program, making branches weaker.

Minor setback for CFC. Club has only been in existence since 2015. Was starting to get some traction in SW CT as a branch. Never good to lose a branch in an area. Never sent any kids to CFCU
Major loss for CFC Real families. Lose a boutique family like club which was family friendly. Free ride is over for Families who don't pay tuition
Big question is what's the transition for AC CT post PD. He won't subsidize club forever. Does this acquisition become accretive or dilutive to cash flow? Acquisition has to be dilutive

Not many CFCU players came from that area, probably partly because it' hasn't been a strong area for CFC. Also until they build he Bethany facility I think most of the boys teams practiced in Meriden which is a haul from the Danbury/New Milford area. Most top girls make sure they move to Arsenal by U11/12.

It won't be a huge impact to CFC because they're so big, but it does restrict their access to part of the market. Given the history between AC and CFC it also has to sting a little.

Home games currently in Meriden until outdoor fields are complete in Bethany. Real was a financially underperforming branch.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostI did say that Meriden was before, not now. Real wasn't that old and not that good so it's not surprising there wouldn't be many United players from there. I'm not sure how it could be underperforming financially as they had 6-8 teams per gender (there are branches that are smaller than that) unless they had thin rosters or were overpaying for fields and coaches

How many players ever went on to the ECNL from Real? I can only imagine how much of a lose that group was. From what people are saying on the street is that Real had so many players paying nothing it was a nightmare. The few of families that actually paid to play were berry upset due to massive number of free loaders.

PS. AC CT is also bad about collecting tuition. Also the ACC tuition will be much higher and travel to Newtown will be required. Expect families to drop out
