For girls DA, there is a lack of focus on the end game.....as there is no end game. With no end game to shoot for, there is naturally less attention on GDA from the higher ups at NYCFC.
Then why does NYCFC have a girls DA program? I think they feel "its a nice thing to do for the girls" and politically correct.

Agree. It is good marketing and an advantage over their competition. Much of youth soccer is business.

Their focus is on developing talent for their MLS squads. Honestly it's surprising that NYCFC got involved at all, but good for them. It's turned out to be one of the few highlights in fairly disappointing NE division.
There was very little effort required on NYCFC's part -- the agreement works partly because of the co-location of the new training facility being built across the street.

Your point makes no sense at all. Why have a GDA at all and open yourself up for criticism. Its very easy and costs NOTHING to make the coverage the same.

The end game has nothing to do with it. This is where people who dont understand sporting cultures get lost.

The end game is creating the passion and excitement for the sport amongst generations of people - male and female.

its not solely about "developing players for the first team"

How is it good marketing? They are not exploiting its potential at all .

Highlight ? How? right now that GDA would be no different if it was called WCFC GDA. Why good for them? They currently provide very little if anything.

NYCFC has clearly shown more "passion and excitement" in developing players for the first team - it permeates much of their marketing message. The girls program lacks focus and a clear marketing message.....and therefor, it garners much less attention.

No one cares about women's soccer except the few involved. There is a slow growth of interest in men's soccer. There's far more money to be made in men's soccer with fans, advertisers, and money off of home growns. The only money in women's soccer is the USWNT and running girls youth programs, with all those parents willing to write checks so their daughters can play in college.

                            A lot to say.

First off, until a women’s league is marketed like MLS, it will always be tough to draw. It starts there. If money was inversted in marketing and going to businesses and promoting the brand we would have a path to a pro game. As currently constituted, College is the end game and any professional dreams are secondary and not a way to make a living. US Soccer is very hypocritical when it comes to this regardless of what they say. Actions speak volumes. Letting Boston Breakers fold is just another example. What a joke! Means pennies to them.

Also, GDA is a joke too. They launched it as a PR move. They didn’t want to be called out as being sexist. It was done half assed, rushed and without a great plan. Thus, look at what we have. They need to get together with ECNL and work something out that makes sense. But right now they lost all or at least most of their leverage. GDA should have a funded program in select regional spots where they pull top girls from ECNL and have trainings once a week and games periodically. ECNL will allow this and this way the best players can still have their path and focus the way US Soccer wants it. Having these two leagues compete and water down the product is just stupid. I don’t blame ECNL, this is all on US Soccer.

But in this day and age, the pro organization that involves themselves in the women's game has an advantage over the pro organizations that do not. If I turn on a game to watch the action (and see the sponsors) do I sit my kids down to root for the organization doing right by the girls or the one that is not involved?

Your second paragraph makes no sense. Once a week ? pointless. Some Clubs within the GDA are doing just fine. Like everything in life, it works for some and not others. A glorified id camp once a week is not the answer.
