    Beachside Banquet

    Place your bets:
-How many times MK will say how special the club is
-Chances his speech lasts over 30 min
-Percentage of players/families who don't show up
-Chance that the facility is never mentioned or simply described as "we have something great planned"
-How many times Carl is thanked for being an amazing president

Now that BS has a Director of Social Media they should live stream it.

Been to the last two and this year is the 3rd strike and we are out.

Don't know about the bets. Never been to one but I looked at the items at auction. About 30 things with avg price of a hundred dollars. Assuming they go for a couple hundred dollars then you had $6000 raised. Add to that around 300 paying attendees at $50/ticket and you have $15,000. Throw in another $4000 for misc. donations and topline is $25,000. Now subtract renting the Hyatt ballroom, food, entertainment, swag, decorations, etc., and you are looking at $10k raised at best.

Roughly the equivalent to fees for not even 3 players. Therefore is this really a fundraiser or just a PR stunt to boost morale and build the cult of MK and BS?

They used to net $30 to 60k on it, so it's not a stunt. It's just not what it used to be. The donated items were high quality and the bidding was five digits on quite a few items.

And no way they get 300 in there.

I think DA is killing clubs. First it killed
Off SCP, now Beachside is dying a slow death. Death by DA!

I'm curious to hear why you think the DA is killing clubs?

Not the poster and I also don't entirely agree with their premise. BDA has been around for 10+ years now and almost all original clubs are still in it and more have been added. But DA clubs are supposed to work towards lowering their fees for DA teams. to do that and not take a big financial hit they need a lot of highly profitable teams. A smaller club like BS (with high expenses) will have a hard time doing that. OW has their own facility and has worked to get sponsorships etc to help lower fees, but they are feeling the pinch too. BS's attention has been diverted to DA at the expense of other teams and the girls' program. It also badly diluted the premier teams, making them weaker and less appealing vs other premier options in the area. They're also bumping up against a price point that has many taking pause. Some smaller clubs can mange the challenges or have better circumstances (like lower salaries, own fields, who is the local competition etc). Good management is also clutch.

The other issue BS and smaller/non MLS clubs are bumping up against is more families questioning the value of doing DA.

You mentioned it. BS was so laser focused on Boys DAP that they didn't grow rest of the club. Only medium to large clubs will survive in DAP. Also they haven't adjusted to the times.

MK did not just ignore the girls' side; he crapped all over it.
