Sometimes kids are stuck at a club because it's the only game in town. People aren't staying because they are happy.

under u12 ... many parents think their kids are messi, IF ONLY ... the coaching was better, etc... lots of unhappy parents

      u12-u14 ... transition

u15 and above ... provided you can afford it, you are happy that your kid is doing a sport, socializing with other kids, and able to balance school and a sport (hopefully); maybe there's a college soccer angle, maybe not; if the club just stays organized and provides average coaching, people are generally ok.

so it goes from OMG my kid is the next messi to cool he can do a great activity and stay away from e-devices.

parents get perspective as the process plays out.

Pretty impressive that Sunrise Prime made the list in their 2nd season of existence.

If you pay attention to girls soccer around the country (as measured by what clubs are sending girls to the next level - college and/or NT) the Top 25 looks about right. You could argue about the relative ranking of 26-100 but most of those clubs belong on there in some order.

TBU is the highest ranked club from FL and that makes sense. On the girls side, they have been having consistent success for a very long time.

A national club list is about as useful as tits on a bull. Even if one of clubs happens to be in your own back yard that doesn't mean it's a good fit for your player(s). Nor does the # of NT players mean the club is good at development - they may just be more connected which helped them attract talent.
Then there's the glaring issue of accuracy given they play in different leagues and regions of varying strength.

But go ahead and tell your coworkers your kid plays for club #56 on Monday. They'll be so impressed

They rank college football teams even though they play in different conferences. Colleges are ranked even though they teach different classes. It's not all apples to apples but a list can help weed out the pretenders.

Not to mention that every one of these clubs costs as small fortune as if that has to do with soccer talent and where to find it. This is list of the top 100 soccer businesses if that is what does it for you.

Or you can tell your coworkers your kid plays for club #1056 on Monday. You decide.

Whatever you tell your co-workers (#4 or #78), they will politely smile, feign interest, and still not give a f&$k. This kind of worthless info (as with most of your kids activities) are best left unsaid.

Not really. Besides, what matters is what your local options are and where is the best place for your player. Sitting on the bench at a so called top national club won't do anyone any good. Do your own research.

Also, systems for ranking colleges or college football teams have far more data and people who know what they're doing than a clickbait soccer publication. Advice above applies to colleges - going to a top school may not be the best fit for your student.

Same with family and neighbors - eye roll city

As has been pointed out 1,000 times on here - all the soccer clubs are businesses. So there is something to be said for a soccer club that is ranked in the Top 100 soccer club businesses. The Top 100 must be doing some things the others aren't.

                            But if a club is

                            - unaffordable
                            - too far for logistics
                            - not a good fit for your kid

none of it matters. Besides, it's a flawed methodology by a soccer magazine comparing apples and oranges.

I take that your kid does not play for any of the Top 100 clubs mentioned by US Youth Soccer. Don’t get upset. This is a formal list compiled by soccer experts. They are in no way telling you that your club is bad. They are just pointing out the obvious. Those clubs are operating at a higher level and there is nothing wrong with that.

Nope. My kid plays for TBU. I'm just smart enough to know that nobody gives a damn.
