Really!
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostGPS poach many of their players years ago. So, this shows you the low class crap going on with the Fire!
Come on people wake up. We have had too many clubs in this area for years, which within itself creates a carousel for coaches and players. "Most" clubs try to improve and grow each year by either creating partnerships (GPS- Bayern Munich, Naples - Chicago Fire, Azzuri - Orlando City FC, Elite-West Ham) or through affiliations and leagues (US Club, FYSA, NPL, ECNL, DA, FPL). The fact that our area only had DA for a year with GPS is embarrassing. That was lost due to changes in US Soccer by dropping U12 and deemphasizing the younger age group within DA and the lack of a centralize large pool of players didn't allow for older age expansion. We should have both DA and ECNL in our areas years ago, but our local clubs didn't want to pool together to make this happen. Instead, they choose to put the players and the quality of soccer behind their ego's. They have gone out of their way to create partnerships out of the local area instead of building in our own backyard. Finally, we are moving in the right direction and I would bet that if the GPS/Fire merger goes through, we will see other mergers as a bi-product (the only way the others clubs will catch up), which will be great for our area! 2-3 large clubs bringing all the top talent and coaching together and allowing for much-needed depth with clubs being able to field 2nd and 3rd teams for true development.
If players and parents choose to leave a club to go elsewhere....that is not poaching...it's free choice! If you choose Chic-fil-a over Burger King, it most likely because you think one is better!

I agree a merger is a good thing, but I truly don’t think it’s going to happen. We shall see.

Public Announcement
If this is true, when do you think a public announcement would go out? May/Aug? Aligned with end of the season?

Best thing that can happen for the area!! Should have happened years ago. Lots of talent at both clubs, will be great to see it pooled together finally!
