    Girls Soccer in Northeast Florida

What's it going to take to fix the soccer landscape for girls in Northeast Florida? Right now we have clubs fighting below their weight. FESA, Armada, and USA/Clay are all failing to even compete. What could be done to get it right??

Same thing SF did. Merge clubs or have clubs fold. Both Prime and Weston have competitive teams in the top leagues now.

Consolidate into one ECNL program and one GDA program.

This will make the second tier teams stronger as well.

Clay and Armada merger with Armada dropping girls ECNL. They would be the DA club and let FESA be the ECNL club?

Nothing will happen. 2 of the clubs are too stubborn to do what's right. Not sure who is more of a pain, Bubb or Armada's board.

Nothing can be done. Enjoy the bottom of the table.

You would not drop ECNL. If Clay and Armada merged, you would have enough of a talent pool to still have competitive ECNL. GDA is not for everyone. Heck, ECNL is not for everyone regardless of talent. Travelling all over the country for competition under U17 or U16 is pretty much a waste. If Clay and Armada merged, the top players from FESA would follow and they would either have to join too (without Bubb) or be an NPL club.

I'm not sure Clay and Armada merging would fix anything. Clay relies on snagging talent from Armada and FESA to fill out their teams. For North Florida to get fixed its going to require a big merger and dropping of either an ECNL team or a DA team. The talent exists to support 1 GECNL and 1 GDA or 2 GECNL teams. Otherwise it will be same thing wrapped a different way.

Hey consolidation does work in south / central FL. No more GDA O-Pride & SFFA Anyone who wants to play GDA went to Weston. They are doing very well nationally from what i see. Jax is a huge market, but talent is spread thin.

Jax has 5 teams in State finals in girls HS soccer. That shows there is some talent here. 2 ECNL clubs and a GDA club spread that talent too thin.

So far 2A, 3A, and 4A state champs are all from Jacksonville.

Basically, no merger will happen then!

That proves to me what we all already know. The level of HS soccer is not very high. Average level club players that play on teams near the bottom of the table can spread out across the Jax area and not only do well, but actually win State Championships.

Yet, most ECNL teams from the area are struggling and at the bottom of the table.

Or just maybe the high school coaching is a lot better than ECNL.

                              Riiiiiiiiiight.

It’s probably the coaching. It’s the advanced tactics they are implementing in.... girls HS soccer.

No, I’m sorry it’s not. It’s because the level of play is terrible. Average club players are stars and good club players dominate. So many weak players and no tactics at all.
