They had an open period to dispute the assignments. My school was reassigned from 6A to 5A. Did your school appeal??? Also, all affected sports (basketball, volleyball and soccer) had to agree within the school.

The classifications are based strictly on school population. They have 5 classifications with approximately 100 schools in each. They have to have 16 Districts to make the playoffs workout properly.

Specifically, what is it you do not like?

They have to balance size and proximity. Obviuosly, in some cases that was almost impossible. At the end of the day, the most significant factor in school assignment was student population.

We travel more than an hour and a half for 3 district games. There are teams travelling all over the place, passing schools they could play, to play others. Look at 4A-9, they have SEBRING HS playing all teams from TAMPA. How is that cost effective? None of this saves money, unless you are in a 3 team district like many are.
