The only mistake the organizers are making it to fill the brackets with local teams instead of making it incredibly compelling for the regional winners to come. It's not worth it for the regional winners and finalists to come, just play another game and win 10-0. They want to see like competition and see how they stack up. This tournament is young. It will grow and get better.

Yes regional champions should get a greatly reduced price on all travel costs.

Some teams are so-so but most are good. Games are difficult and kids are dripping sweat. One futsal club has kids from the national soccer team who are incredible. Do we all wish no filler teams were allowed? No because futsal scores can change on a dime and sometimes the better team loses. Explosion lost one game at Regionals. Did the same as Valeo 1-1-1 against tough tough teams in Kansas.

OK, I'll concede that in the younger age groups a filler team here or there doesn't matter. But I'm looking at scores in some of the older age groups and they play two games before they hit the semis. If one of the games is a 10-0 (or more) blowout, how is that good for either team?

They should focus on getting the best u11 to 14 teams to attend.

agreed, and the only way to do that currently is through the regionals process. I'd argue they got some damn good teams to Hanover across age groups.

For argument's sake - hey, that's what everybody does here - let's try to see if the Northeast Regionals or this KC tournament is more competitive...

U12 boys -
Northeast Regional: Champ - Valeo, Finalist - Bolts, Semi-finalists - Club FNH and Manhattan Kickers
KC tournament: pending - good luck in the final... Champ or Finalist: Valeo (currently 4-0 with a 23-8 GD, went 5-0 with a 38-14 GD)

U13 boys -
Northeast Regional: Champ - Gottschee, Finalist - Valeo, Semi-finalists - GPS and Black Knights, Other - Explosion
KC tournament: Semi-finalist - Gottschee (2-2, both losses to the two finalists), Other - Valeo (1-1-1, same as regional record in group stage), Explosion (1-1-1, same as regional record in group stage)

There is no evidence that the tournament in KC is stronger than the Northeast Regionals was.


However - U12 at the "other" Regional tournament currently being played in Wildwood, NJ...

"Other" Northeast Regional: Bolts (2-1, negative GD, didn't advance) and Brazilian United (0-3-0, didn't advance)

Wildwood appears to be bringing much stiffer competition (admittedly the sample size is smaller, with only one age group to compare).

All these MA teams are as good as the best from St. Louis, Cleveland, Dallas, etc. or La Roca who won the Western regional in San Diego? Yeh sure. You are one grumpy and pathetic loser soccer dad. BTW, the teams from NY/NJ are way overrated.

The poster makes a decent point. Your claim is based in opinion.

If the northeast regional teams are not as good as the teams at the Nationals... then how do you explain the records of the teams that played both being roughly the same?

And if the NY/NJ are overrated, then why are the teams that played both regionals doing far worse in NJ?
