Good for NEFC, but since someone thought it was important to start this thread why don't we actually learn something. Is this something that happens across the country? Do a lot of D1 schools have an assistant coach that basically travels around the country going to these types of events? It is just a regular part of the recruiting industry? It's interesting that amid all of the intense complaints about travel and bogus exposure allegations that this practice hasn't been discussed here in depth before. If all of the major colleges across the country are willing to come right to your doorstep, then in theory, if exposure is the only reason to be with a club, there's no need to go anywhere outside of your local county.

I bet Duke isn't used to losing recruits to Becker.

I can not comment on if there were offers made that night. I can only talk about my own child. It is not fair or ethical to speak on behalf of someone elses child. It was a well run showcase and it serves its purpose. Nothing more nothing less. Good oopurtunity for all. Non commits only.
No one is getting an offer base off of an indoor inter-club showcase, unless you are already firmly on their radar. Schools will watch most recruits 5-8 times under real game conditions before they go making any offers. You might get on their radar after an event like this though.

We got an email and it was front and center on their website. But I do think it was mainly U15 and above.

That would be U15's now. Not U14. Nice try

Stars, aztec, breakers, bolts, nefc and nearly all big clubs around here do the showcases and all of them get a decent amount of scouts

Exactly - hardly a novel event and going on for years. It speaks volumes that none of the other clubs come on here and brag about it. Typical of this site though.

What does it speak? Seems like you would be crediting those other clubs with NOT engaging in "marketing hype."

A big part of the issue is the travel has always been tied more to club marketing than to generating exposure for its players. Exposure was always just the hook to get families to buy in. It has never really been necessary if you know how to market and place players. When you get coaches from schools like Duke, Syracuse and Cincinnati to travel up for a small event like this it tells you that that tired old message that you have to follow the herd to far flung showcases was really just self serving. The key has always been having the level of talent the coaches are interested in. If a coach wants a player they will find a way to come see them. The more interesting discussion point is how and why those coaches become so interested in players. This is where that other common marketing message that took hold on TS against ODP really hurt players. When it comes to recruiting, players need to establish a resume and simply wearing one club's uniform or playing on a specific team isn't enough to do that.

Not really. This is another misconception that shows how little is understood about how coaches work. Coaches come to see players because of the "buzz" that surrounds them. That is all about the player's resume. If a coach sees what they need to see they move much quicker than this. It can happen after just 2 evaluations depending upon what's on the player's resume and events like this one may actually be more valuable for "closing" a deal than prospecting for new ones. There were probably more than a few players closing in on deals through this event.

MPS has been doing this sort of thing for almost 10 years now. The key element is parents are now starting to understand how to approach recruiting differently and put faith in these sorts of events rather than jumping on the showcase treadmill.
