Get back to the topic of Hope Solo. US Soccer has made a huge mistake. I don't care if she is convicted or not. She should not be glorified.

One of the reasons I have an issue with Solo is she has had other encounters with the law before. At what point do you say enough already? As we all know top athletes are often coddled and allowed to get away with things the average Joe doesn't. It sends a very poor message to children and other athletes, and encourages the continuation of bad behavior.
Something all the leagues need to grapple with is
1) what type of offense gets what type of punishment?
2) is a player allowed to remain on the payroll, or even keep playing, up until he/she is found guilty/innocent in a court of law? In the most recent case the matter was settled legally already, but the court of public opinion - because of the video release - mattered far more.
