Cristiano Ronaldo Plans To Sign With MLS

You heard that correctly. Cristiano Ronaldo is planning on signing for a MLS team in 2018.

I would imagine it has to do with globalizing his brand because he's pretty much won everything a footballer could in Europe. He's won virtually every significant trophy and broken plenty of records along the way.

Ronaldo will probably sign for either some LA/NYC/Miami team and will most likely get 100% rights to his images and receive a percentage of jersey sales with his name just like Beckham agreed to when he signed for LA Galaxy.

He will be 33 and he's receiving around 18 million with Real Madrid. I would assume he's going to be a world class footballer by the time his contact is up with Madrid. MLS teams would probably have to fork over a TON of money for him but it would be definitely worth in the long run and how much exposure the MLS would get from it.

The whole "Nike Football" brand and CR7 brand are making a massive creeping into the United States.

The CR7 brand will be so tired by that time whoever "wins" the bid for his services will surely regret it.

        beginning in 2018!

His dribbling moves don't work any more in Liga or Champions League- but they will work on MLS players

Ronaldo would still score 50 goals a season in the MLS when he's 35. Probably not even an exaggeration when I say that.

The CR7 brand has been grossing in hundreds of millions of dollars for nearly a decade now. I think it'll be even more popular in few years time.

Just like how David Beckham became even more popular if that's even possible after playing for the LA Galaxy and marketing his brand so well.

No he won't come anywhere close to that. He needs teammates that can give him the ball at the right moment - he won't get that in MLS

Nope. No one to give him the passes he needs to score

I hope you understand that Ronaldo's playing against very good defenders in the Spanish Primera and MLS defenders for the vast majority aren't even half of what defenders Ronaldo plays against on the regular.

If he does indeed come to the MLS at the age of 32/33 with his body well kept and in shape, he'd still score 30-40 goals a season. He's one of the best players our generation and arguably the history of football has ever seen. He's broken tons of records and won countless trophies.

His form-trajectory is actually scary for his age and borderline abnormal. He's 30 now but he's efficiency and goal scoring hasn't dropped at all... At 30, his number of goals and number of assists should theoretically be dropping every season but it just keeps get higher and higher and stays pretty consistent for the most part.

If a washed up David Beckham coming to the MLS could charm millions of Americans and further globalize his brand, imagine what Cristiano Ronaldo could accomplish in America.....

Fan boys and fan girls all over America would be going gaga over him.

He couldn't score 50 goals right now in MLS!! You people think MLS is some rec bar league or something. These are very athletic 20 something athletes who have been playing soccer all their lives. They are not volunteer part timers. You seem to think La Liga, Serie A or whomever are galaxies apart? You are misguided if you think that. Sebastian Giovinco who is 25 years old, has been having rough time and he's an Italian national team player. Beckham certainly didn't dominate and neither would Ronaldo or Messi. total BS.

Add the fact that MLS is primarily a summer league. People discount the athleticism aspect of the game. American college soccer players are very athletic, may not as technical as their European counterparts but do not underestimate the athletic piece of the game. English and German players would have more success in MLS versus the Spanish or Portuguese or Italians for that matter. Cristiano Ronaldo is the most over rated player in soccer history.

No doubt coming to America would further pad his already inflated bank account and endorsements would be flowing to him but 50 goals? No way!!

He may be in great shape as we all have seen his multitude obnoxious bare chested pics ad nauseum but Ronaldo does not possess great speed, pigeon toed runner, and really not all that technical. Robben would be a better fit for MLS and even maybe Rooney.
