          lol this

"The strategic initiative to increase the player pool at the younger Academy ages, is part of a long-term goal of expanding to single age groups in order to further develop female players"

          should read

"to increase the player pool so that we can try and take even more players out of ECNL (in the hopes of it dying), while at the same time making more money for clubs and us"

So clubs like this one in VA, that already had meetings and announcements have to scramble to find even more players, another coach, field space....So poorly executed and so obvious USSF's intent. I hope more clubs drop out

Only an idiot would jump ship from a TBU ecnl program that actually delivers quality players, teams and scholarships (even before being ecnl), to coaching staff that are proven losers that year after year deliver crap results.
I like that motto, 'It's better to poach than coach.'
It should be the motto of every club on TS that claims their 'stuff' doesn't stink and bad mouths everyone else.

Should even be the motto of USSF! Go watch some BDA games - robots on turf

                    From U.S. Soccer's GDA FAQs:
"The Girls' Development Academy firmly believes that the traditional open tryout is a highly flawed and ineffective model for player identification and evaluation. The expectation is that Academy clubs move to using a more systematic scouting model to identify and recruit new talents and invite these players to trial for an extended period with the current player pool."

The LA Premier FC tryouts below sure look a lot like the old highly flawed and ineffective model.....

The tryout season is upon us at LA Premier.
This tryout is for girls born in 2003 and 2004, wishing to play in the US Girls Academy.

Held at La Canada HS Stadium Field.

We encourage players to attend all tryouts if possible.
Check-in is 15 minutes before your start time and pre-registration is strongly advised.

They have to list it for the sake of appearances but rest assured, they probably already know who they will take as soon as they see who shows up. If your kid is good enough to be on a DA roster, the coaches already know her or of her. Basically what US soccer is talking about. There will be very few players to come out of nowhere and make these teams.

Its the best of the best the top 1% that are made for DA. The rest can play ECNL.

Sure.... keep telling yourself that. They keep telling the gullible parents how different and select it's going to be and then as they get closer to implemention it turns out it's the same-old, same-old.

Only clubs and USSF need more than 1% to make it work. That's the biggest flaw. They should have designed a system for the 1%, but in reality it's for 99% in ECNL now

It really doesn't matter how it is implemented or how it is run. The fact is, and this is what you ECNL groupies need to come to grips with, The GDA will be seen at the top league, where the best players are and where the college coaches go first. Just be OK with that if you want to stay in ECNL and stop trying to take down GDA. Accept your status in a second tier league that is now ECNL And move on. Good grief...

Translated: I'm totally fine with it being the same-old, same-old as long as they keep telling me my kid's in the top league.

More accurately: I like that my kid in GDA will now get a first look from College coaches and have a leg up on getting a spot on a D1 team over the girls that stay in ECNL. Thank you GDA.
