The weather will be nice and your kid will have fun with her team. In terms of college exposure, no it is NOT worth it. There were very limited college coaches in attendance last year, as a result, my D's team is attending the Disney Showcase.

The NPL Showcase for girls is at the same time as both the ECNL Florida Showcase for two days and the Disney Showcase for one day. I see a good amount of colleges that are saying they will be there, but they are also listed as being at the ECNL and Disney events. No idea how that will work.
Our team is going to the NPL Showcase. Our coach said it was the best Showcase to attend because it was a smaller Showcase so we would get better exposure for our players. Unfortunately, two of the colleges our D wants to attend first said they would be there, but now that our schedule is out, they are now unable to attend due to a conflict with another soccer event.
I am now thinking we got bad advice from our club and coach and that this will be a waste of money. More inaccurate input from Aztecs.

Just read this posted in Future of NPL thread. What say you?
I see this 180-degrees differently. Only bleak for ECNL. Good case to me made that DAP makes NPL stronger. ECNL will lose its best players to DAP. DAP clubs will pull out of ECNL - why endorse rival? - and likely house #2 teams in NPL. NPL now becomes feeder for DAP teams. NPL becomes more appealing, and ECNL struggles with new We're #2 identity.
This is a "Mirror Mirror on The Wall" moment for ECNL, and that's why they are lobbing poison apples at the NPL.

That's a pretty sad list of coaches for an NPL "showcase." Awful lot of DIII schools where the kid will get little or no $. I think you get better turnout at Needham.

Are there NPL players every bit as good as ECNL players? Yes. Will those same NPL players have as many opportunities to land soccer money? No. NPL players just don't get the same level of exposure as ECNL players. All things being equal, college coaches will go to ECNL events simply because it's the best league. They will watch girls playing against the best competition. A flashy NPL player is suspect because she's not doing it against ECNL competitors.

These "Showcases" are a huge rip-off.
The people running them make a good amount of money, the college coaches get a nice trip to a warm location, the club coaches also get a free trip and the parents pay through the nose thinking their son or daughter will be discovered. It is all a myth!
The way to get onto a college soccer roster is to become a very good player, get excellent marks in school. Then, go to a summer camp where the coach or coaches you are trying to impress will be able to see your player playing while talking with and getting to know your player. This works very well if your player has contacted the coach up front letting her or him know of the interest in their team and school.
This is far more effective and you will save time and a good amount of money.
