What your club coach won't tell you

If you are a special talent, you know it by U14. Everyone else should focus on school. Stop letting the clubs lie to you & rip you off. Focus on grades and you will get scholarships.

Now girls have more soccer scholarships available. Boys very few. Play another sport.

Michael Jordan was cut from the team when he was 14.

Freddie Adu was hailed as the next Pele at 14.

Don't let idiots on talking soccer define how you are in life. Follow your own dreams.

Crazy soccer parents really mess things up on the team.
They seem normal, but some kind of insanity comes during games.

The soccer moms really push the political angle really hard with the coaches
        and other moms.

*bonus* See what kind of purse the mom's carry to the games. Nicer the purses,
        bitchier and alpha they are.

Woe if your kid beats out the manager's kid. Manager's kid always
plays and never gets booted off. Oops, forgot to book your room! So, sorry!

Watch for any coach's kid on any of the team in the club.
        Special snowflakes and no discipline.

Soccer dads can even worse and more vocal and can be violent. Watch for signs of
beer breathe. Stay far, far away.

F**king auctions. Do not drink the free booze or you will end up buying that stupid painting
the DOC's wife painted. Sit far away on the edges of the floor, away from the auction pimps.

See what kind of car your coach drives. The nicer the car, the bigger the bullsh*tter.

Oh, don't get too drunk at the hotel bars. you will end of saying crap or fighting with
a parent. Does not end well.

The other thing they will not tell you. If you question the coaches expenses or anything about money you player will not be invited back. No matter how good they are.

Not exactly, MJ was 15 when he didn't make his varsity HS team. But he did make and star on the JV squad. He also grew four inches between his Sophomore and Junior years and everyone knows how important height is in basketball.

Idiot, Freddy Adu's talent was never in question. He has more talent than almost all of your kids. His problem had to do with personality, drive, and motivation.

By the way, Jordan destroyed JV. Coaches are dumb. Even great players are not immune from subjective coaching error and incompetence.

Won't say "Your kid isn't that good but we needed a few more players to fill the roster and your check cleared."

The part about the team politics is dead on. If only the coach really knew what the team manager does to parents but the parents would never tell the coach knowing he needs the manager more and would do anything to believe and keep her happy. She makes she he is happy and gets a paycheck.

Team managers can be a real curse if you get a bad one. I know of one whose daughter was slated for an NPL team after tryouts. She makes a call to the Director, whose testicles she held tightly in her hand, and all of a sudden her daughter is on the ECNL team. What a miracle...

... and we're glad to have her. Maybe if you got off your fat ass and volunteered to help a little your kid might get some special benefits too.

ROFL! Touch a nerve? You don't even know what club I'm talking about, genius. And I'll have you know I've been working out...my ass is getting skinnier every day!
Or are you the one having the affair with the manager?
